Established before more than 3 decades Chhatrapati Sahu Ji Maharaj University in Kanpur is serving for the students from different backgrounds. The university was established in the year 1966, and its growth can be estimated by the fact that it has 170 colleges affiliates to it. The University is spread over a large campus of 264 acres which is well built for academic activities.

The university offers many graduate level and post graduate level programmes in almost all the colleges affiliated to it and the programmes include all the fields of law, commerce, science, Medicine, engineering & arts. For its students the University of Kanpur has started a Institute of engineering & technology offering IT, CSE, Chemical and mechanical engineering.

The various departments in the University are Deen dayal shodh sansthan, Department of Education, Department of fine art & painting, Department of library and information science, Department of music, Department of Physical Education, Department of Master of social work, Department of Bio-technology and bioscience. Department of adult continuing education and extension. Institute of life sciences, Institute of pharmacy,Institute of Buisness management, Institute of journalism and Mass communication, University  Institute of para medical sciences etc.

For encouragement among students to put extra efforts the university offers several medals to meritorious students for example The Chancellor’s Gold medal for the university best student and also several medals for highest marks scorer in various subjects.

The university provides many facilities for its students which include a large and spacious central library, Auditorium, Cafeteria, Bank, Guest house, Computer center, shopping complex, lecture hall complex, Hostels for its students, Helipad, international center, stadium, multipurpose hall, teacher’s residence and many other important facilities.

For admission to the Colleges under this university the students are required to fill up an application form for the desired course. The form is available on the university website under various heads of the courses. Some courses also take students through an entrance test conducted.
