The full name of ADM College for Women is A. Doraisamy Nadar Maragathavalli Ammal College for Women and the college came into existence in the year 1975. The college was established with the objective of offering holistic higher education to young girls from rural areas of the district.

The college offers education to women students with affiliation from the Bharathidasan University. Year 2004, is a milestone year in the history of ADM College for Women since only during this year, the college earned A grade accreditation from the NAAC and autonomous status was also obtained by the institution in the same year.
