Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology, Pune University, Bharati Vidhyapeeth University, etc are some of the reputed institutions offering M.Sc in Bioinformatics. Bachelor degree holders in engineering/ medicine/science can apply for the course. Eligible candidates should have at least 50 -55% marks in degree level exam. Pune University conducts an objective model written test for selection process where as Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology carry out an online test for admission process. Eligibility requirements for the course vary with institute. Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology considers engineering as well as science graduates for admission. Science graduates should have obtained the qualification in any of the following subjects with a minimum of 55% marks.

Admission Procedure for M.Sc in Bioinformatics

Admission to the course in most cases is done on the basis of entrance exams. Pune University conducts an objective model written test for selection process. There will be two papers for the written test, Paper I and Paper II. Each of these papers comprise of 100 questions. Each question carries 1 mark to make a total of 200 marks. 90 minutes are allotted for answering each paper. Paper II is based on the subject studied at B.Sc degree and Paper I is based on questions from the following topics.

  • Logical Reasoning
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Statistics
  • Zoology

Candidates having qualified in the written test should undergo an interview session to confirm their final selection.

Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology conducts an online entrance test for selection. The test is conducted as objective model and is based on the syllabus of 12th class (science). Qualified candidates in the written test will be subjected for final round interview. Subject knowledge of the candidate is basically tested in this section.
