Heera College of Engineering & Technology (HCET) offers B.Tech courses in streams like Electronics and Communication, Mechanical, Computer Science and Electrical and Electronics engineering. The admission for these courses will be based on merit – depending on the rank obtained in KEAM (Kerala Engineering Agricultural Medical) entrance examination. A training and Placement cell functioning in this college is the responsible authority which coordinates and arranges key training activities related to student placements. They take care of the personality development programmes in areas aptitude training, language based training, technical training and logical analysis.

Admission Process in HCET

Candidates who have completed 12th class in science stream with at least 50% marks can apply for B.Tech courses in this college. It is compulsory for candidates to study Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry in this level to apply for the same. The selection process will mainly depend upon the marks obtained in 12th class along with the merit score obtained in the state level entrance examination. Candidates need to attend KEAM (Kerala Engineering Agricultural Medical) entrance examination and obtain a good score in this exam to become eligible to submit applications for B.Tech course in this college. Candidates will be short listed based on the entrance exam and need to attend the counseling process as part of selection.

Training and Placement Activities in HCET

A training and Placement cell is functioning in this college which takes initiative in moulding the students and providing good placement opportunities for students. The training and Placement cell in HCET is headed by the Principal, Training and Placement officer and other staff members. The T& P cell works as a responsible authority which identifies the specific requirements of reputed companies with regard to the student placements and train them accordingly.

Some of the key initiatives taken by the Training and Placement Cell in HCET include the following activities –

  • Arranges and Coordinates Personality development programmes from the first year of course with an objective to enhance key technical and soft skills of students. Training programmes related to areas like aptitude training, language based training, logical thinking and analysis and technical topics training are conducted.
  • Students are also imparted training to develop the presentation skills, group discussion skills and mock interview training etc. Career guidance programs are also conducted by eminent industry personalities to help students to identify good career path.
  • HCET also arranges industrial training and corporate visits to get a practical exposure on different industrial activities.

Apart from this, the HCET T&P cell arranges placement orientation programs for students during the starting of every academic session. As part of this, corporate personalities like Dr. D. Babu Paul (Retired IAS Officer), Mr. T.P. Sreenivasan (Former Ambassador of India) etc give lectures to students which help them to develop lateral thinking and over all personality development.
