National Institute of Fashion Technology, a leading institute of Design Management and Technology was started by Textiles Ministry, Government of India. This institute has led to the way for developing the fashion education in India. It has educational centers all over in India. There are different Bachelors Design Courses (B Des) offered by the Institution and students can select the specialization according to their taste. These courses develop the designing skills and creativity of the students. This institute provides good infrastructure to the students studying various courses.

Admission Process for B.Des in NIFT

The admission for the design course is based on a written entrance exam, personal interview and Group Discussion for the eligible candidates conducted by NIFT. The written examination is mainly for evaluating the candidates’ knowledge and skill in the opted programme. The test includes General Ability Test (GAT) and the GAT test is to evaluate

• Quantitative Ability
• Communication Ability
• English Comprehension
• Analytical Ability
• General Knowledge and Current Affairs

There will also be a Creative Ability Test. The Creative Ability Test (CAT) is mainly for evaluating the candidates’ creativity, Innovation and designing skill. After that there is a situation test also. The candidates who pass the test are selected for the final interview and Group Discussion. The short listed candidates are then called for counseling.

The application forms and prospectus are available from selected branches of Axis Bank and IDBI bank. The completely filled applications should be forwarded with a DD of Rs.350/- to the concerned address mentioned in the prospectus. The application without the DD is not accepted by the institution. The admission is mainly based on the written test. The list of selected candidates is developed by the NIFT Board Members.

Fee structure of B.Des in NIFT

The fee structure for the course is affordable for the students. There is different fee structure for Indian students and NRI students. The academic fee structure for the B.Des course in NIFT for one semester is about Rs. 52,000/- which includes Tuition Fee, Security Deposit, Library Fee, Alumni Association Membership- Fee, Mediclaim & Student Development Fee etc. The academic fee for the NRI students for one year is come around Rs.3, 60,000/-.The fees paid for the course is non- refundable.
