Punjab University offers B.Sc courses in subjects like Microbiology, Geology, Bio-Physics, Botany, and Chemistry. HSC passed candidates in specific subjects with a minimum of 50% marks can apply for admission. Admission process is done on the basis of marks obtained in 12th (25% weightage) and entrance test conducted by the University (75% weightage).

Eligibility Criteria for B.Sc Courses in Punjab University

HSC passed candidates with a minimum of 50% marks can seek admission to B.Sc degree in Punjab University. SC/ST candidates need to hold a minimum of 40% marks only.

For B.Sc in Botany /Zoology, applicant should have studied the following subjects in 10 + 2.

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • English
  • Physics

For B.Sc in Anthropology/Chemistry/Geology/Physics/ Physics & Electronics, applicant should have studied the following subjects in intermediate.

  • English
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Mathematics / Biology

For B.Sc in Biochemistry, applicant should have studied the following subjects in intermediate.

  • Chemistry
  • English
  • Mathematics/ Biology/ Biotechnology
  • Physics

For B.Sc in Biotechnology/Biophysics, applicant should have studied the following subjects in intermediate.

  • Chemistry
  • English
  • Mathematics/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Computer Science
  • Physics

For B.Sc in Mathematics/Mathematics & Computing, applicant should have studied Mathematics as a subject in intermediate.

  • Chemistry
  • Biology/Mathematics/Biotechnology
  • Physics

Admission Process for B.Sc Courses in Punjab University

Admission process is done on the basis of marks obtained in 12th and entrance test conducted by the University.  Twenty five percent weightage is given for marks obtained in HSC and remaining for the marks obtained in entrance test. The entrance test comprises of questions from the following subjects.

  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Biology
  • Mathematics
  • Biotechnology
  • Computer Science

Candidates can select the combination of subjects according to the stream they have studied in 10 + 2 and their choice of course. Combination of subjects that candidate can select are:-

  • Mathematics only
  • Physics, Chemistry and Biology
  • Physics, Chemistry and Biotechnology
  • Physics, Chemistry and Computer Sciences
  • Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics

Each paper contains 60 questions that must be completed with 70 minutes (each paper). Each question carries 2 marks that make the total marks in each paper to 12.  Meritorious students can seek admission after submitting original mark lists and other important documents.
