UPSC undertakes the Civil Service Exam in the Political Science & International Relations (Paper II) paper. The exam is conducted for aspirants who wish to become Civil Servants. The exam is of high standard and observes a great degree of respect.

Division of the Paper:

The paper is broadly divided into two main Sections, Section A and B. Both of the sections carry a maximum of four main questions.

Paper pattern:

The paper has a total of eight main questions, with each section having four questions. The first main question of both of the sections are compulsory to attempt and carries a maximum of four sub-questions, out of which candidates have to attempt any three. Each of the sub-question has to be answered in about two hundred words. Candidates have to attempt any three questions, from the remaining six, with at least one from each of the section. Candidates have to answer all the questions in English.

Markings:

The total mark offered in the exam is three hundred, with each of the main question carrying a maximum of sixty marks. Each of the sub-question in the first main question of the two sections carries a maximum of twenty marks.

Time allotted for the examination:

The time allotted for the examination is 2 hours.
