Indian Institute of Technology Ropar is also known as Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Punjab. It was established in the year 2008 by the Government of India. Mr. M. K. Surrapa is the director of the institute, who was earlier apppointed as a professor in IISC banglore in the Department of Metallurgy. Institute provides several undergraduates as well as the post graduate courses to the students. The campus of the institute is preaded in an area of around 520 acres.
