Pondicherry University was established in the year 1985 under the Government of India. The university is a central university located at Pondicherry. Mr. Mohammed Hamid Ansari is the Chancellor of the university while Professor Jalees Ahmed Khan Tareen is the current Vice Chancellor of the university.
