Doranda College came into existence in the year 1962 and the college was established by a philanthropist belonging to the city of Ranchi with the objective of offering holistic education. Doranda college was converted as a constituent unit of the Ranchi University from the year 1977 and it is offering education in the faculties of arts, commerce, science and several other vocational courses.

Bachelor of Arts:

The B.A (general) course offered by Doranda College includes language paper as a compulsory subject and candidates can choose any of the languages like Nagpuri, Kurukh, Sanskrit, Bangla, Urdu and Hindi and the candidates will have to choose any three out of the following optional papers:

• Psychology

• Geography

• History

• Philosophy

• Political science

• Economics

• English

For seeking admission to the B.A (honors) course, candidates must have completed their intermediate course with not less than 45% of marks in the subject in which he/she is seeking admission.

Bachelor of Science:

The B.Sc (general) course offered by Doranda College includes language paper as a compulsory subject along with environmental science paper and candidates will have to choose any three out of the following optional papers:

• Zoology (general alone)

• Botany (general alone)

• Math (general & honors)

• Chemistry (general & honors)

• Physics (general & honors)

For seeking admission to the B.Sc (honors) course, candidates must have completed their intermediate course with not less than 45% of marks in the subject in which he/she is seeking admission, only science stream students can apply.

Vocational courses:

For seeking admission to the vocational courses offered by Doranda College, candidates must have completed their higher secondary in any stream of education with not less than 45% of marks.

Candidates can get the application form and prospectus from the campus of the college by depositing Rs.250 in the form of cash or DD for an amount of Rs.300 in favor of the Principal of Doranda College can also be sent through post for collection of application form and prospectus through post.
