Electrical engineering

Electrical engineering primarily deals with electricity and its properties. The course mainly deals with generation, transmission and distribution of electricity. Various machines that are used in the generation, transmission and distribution are analyzed in detail which includes study of theoretical aspects and design of such machines. Such machines include AC and DC generators, AC and DC motors, transformers, converters, invertors, relays, and various measuring devices such as Voltmeters, Ammeters and energy meters. Students will get hands on experience on such machines and equipments in their laboratories as a part of the syllabus. The syllabus also covers design of electrical systems which has increased applications in the present day world.

Electronics engineering

Electronics engineering primarily deals with electronic circuits or embedded systems. The course mainly deals with the study and design of electronic circuits, Very Large Scale Integration, Ultra large Scale Integration, signal processing, solid state devices, communication technology and image processing. The syllabus provides hands on experience in designing and developing circuits, programming associated with logical controllers and the study of theoretical aspects of electronics.

Both these streams have increased importance in our day to day lives. All the equipments that we use in our daily life runs on electricity, which includes fan, oven, heater, TV, Air conditioner, lights, computer and so on. And almost all the equipments that we use have electronic circuits embedded in it, which includes TV, Mobile Phones, computer, oven, AC and so on. So the importance of both electrical or electronics engineering has increased than never before. So the question which fetches more job prospect is difficult to answer.

The employment opportunities for both these streams have increased with the increase in human needs. So the benefits from both these streams go hand in hand and as told earlier, the outcome depends on your passion to excel in the field of your choice. Any comparison that says that one is better than the other is meaningless as the applications of both these streams have become necessary for the existence of human beings on this planet.
