Sri Venkateswara University offers Doctor of Philosophy program to Master Degree holders in concerned subjects. Full-time and Part-time Ph.D degree programmes are provided by the University. Candidate seeking full-time Ph.D program should possess post graduate degree with a minimum of 55% marks. For applying part-time Ph.D program, the applicant should be a regular service employee with at least 2 years of work experience in teaching or related fields.

Eligibility Criteria for full-time Ph.D program

• Applicant should hold a Post Graduate degree from Sri Venkateswara University/ equivalent in the concerned subject.
• Candidate should have a minimum of 55% marks in the concerned PG subject. SC/ST/PH candidates will get 5% relaxation in marks. If the candidate has done any engineering degree, then he/she should have either 1^st class in concerned M.Tech or B.Tech.
• Candidate need to qualify in GATE/ SVU RESET/ APSET/ UGC NET/ ICAR/ CSIR/ any National Entrance exam equivalent to NET or any accredited exam by UGC.

Eligibility Criteria for part-time Ph.D program

• Research Assistants or Teachers working in Institutes/ University Colleges/ Research Institutes of Sri Venkateswara University with regular service of 2 years.
• Sri Venkateswara University’s non-teaching staff with regular service of 2 years
• Teachers working in S.V. University affiliated Degree College/ Oriental Colleges/ other Universities as permanent employee are eligible to apply. They should have additional qualification of 2 years (for permanent emplloyees) or 5 years (temporary employee) teaching experience
• Junior Lecturers of Junior College or DIET/ Polytechnics/ PG Teachers with teaching experience as permanent employee or 2 years from recognized institutions or teaching experience as temporary employee for 5 years
• Library Assistants/ Librarians/ Assistant Librarians/ Physical Education Lecturers or Physical Directors working in Junior Colleges/ Colleges can apply.  These candidates should have with 2 years permanent employee experience or 5 years temporary employee experience.
• Reputed State or National Institutions permanent employees with 2 years regular service or Teachers working as permanent in Aided/ Government High Schools with regular service of 5 years
• Executives having minimum 10 years service experience in Industries/ Commercial Banks/ reputed Service Organizations/ Financial Institutions/ Central or State Government Gazette/ Non-Gazette officers. These personnel need to qualify SVU RESET or should have 2 research papers in research journals of reputation. Apart from that they must also fulfill all other requirements prescribed by the University for Ph.D program registration.

Retired employees will not be allowed to do part-time research programme in Sri Venkateswara University. Candidates who qualified in entrance test and entered the merit list will only be allowed to take admission to Ph.D programme.
