Its very serious issue. Because as one of my senior got 3 years gap he has to quit that Job.

Don't worry !! Its not the End of the Company , seeing your Academics career, you have touch the cloud 9 in contrast to marks. For you all the companies are waiting for you.

Your B.E career ends with 78% that means its more than enough man !

By the way Don't need to take pain, just what you do without knowing anything just go and sit in every company, when at the time of showing your Documents you can show them either some medical Certificate Or Some Job Certificates showing that particular Period of Time you were busy.

They ask reason for the year gaps .If your reason is valid then you have no problem in your placement.Some companies accept at least one year gape like TCS,WIPRO etc.

The eligibility criteria for engineering freshers in most of the MNCs is as follows:
1. 60% through out applicant's academic life i.e. 10th, 12th & BTech
2. less than 2 years gap in their studies

So you may face problem while applying for job in top MCs. But there are some MNCs which provide exception to these eligibility requirements. That is they allow candidates having more than 2 years academic gap to appear in their recruitment drive.

You should be able to justify the gap in your studies. You can say that you were working in some company or were having some other genuine problem.

i h 57% in 2, 71% in 10th ,and doing b.tech with 7.65 CGPA(in 2nd year)

Basically the eligibility criteria needed by the company is based on your 10th, 12th and engineering marks. If it is above 60% then you are eligible to apply for the post.

But there are some highly reputed company also which takes candidates on the reference of year gap. But don't bother about that. What you have to do apply in any company and get experience from there. After you got the experience no one will prefer your marks or year gap. Every thing then depends on your work capability and your experience.

You have done well and have scored good grades...well congrats for opting good grades.Getting back to the point i don't think there will be any problems regarding the gap as the eligibility criteria is fulfilled.They are only looking for is a person who is really capable of working in their company.All you need to do is give your best while interviewing you and convincing them that you are capable enough to work in their company.If those criteria is fulfilled then no body can take the job away from you.

Most of the companies for ONCAMPUS placements like TCS,INFOSYS, TECHMAHINDRA do not allow year gap of more than 1 year.

Some of the companies which have no criteria are

DIscovurture
mphasis etc.

It would be better if you do an MBA or MTech after your BTech. You have a very good career so it will not a problem there.

sir, i am a final year student i am currently doing engg. from bhopal. for the lack of awareness, economical problems due to the lack of guideline i have taken 4 year gap. i have 44.11% marks in 12th which i passed in 2003.now if i want to go the placement please suggest me the way by which the effect of 12th percentage and year gap can be obviated. sir i want to mention the fact that i am good in the communication skills as well as i have got a sound technical knowledge and very good concepts as i am doing home tution for 10 years from class 8 to 12 and teaching the subject physics, chemistry and mathematics. i still teach my juniors (engg.students) too. please give me a proper suggession

I have done my 10th in 2001 with 77% & 12th in 2003 with 74.2% & graduation in BSc(computers) with 63.8% in 2006 but after that i have 2 years of gap & in 2008 i have joined MCA which is to be completed by may 2011 & i have scored till 80 %.....in those 2 years i have done job in finance sector for 6 months & have done MBA thru distance learning in operations from 2006-2010..but i want job in IT sector now...will IT companies consider me for placement with that gap..as i have no genuine reason for that gap..what genuine reason should i give to companies for this

what is the actual eligibility criteria(academic year gap),i mean what is max academic year gaps for wipro technologies.they dont specify related to gaps in their criteria,but they are asking in HR round.So pls tell me,what is the exact eligibility criteria.

Do not worry friend ..you score good in 10th,+2,Btech so you are eligible for many MNC ...
so do not worry about your gap show some logical reason for this gap .
and show some document related to this gap like certificate ,medical and any type of document ..
In this present era many companies are open day by day so you have lots of option be confident and score good in your semester

My friend , your percentage in 10th , 12th, and in B.tech is good, you fulfill the criteria of any IT companies.. but the only problem is you have 3 years of gap..
Many IT companies like -TCS,CTS,INFOSYS,WIPRO are not allow students who has a 3 years of gap..
so, you may face some problem at the time of your campusing..
you overcome the problem by showing certificate of some courses which you have done in that 3 years of gap, or showing some work experience in a field which is similar to that company..
In this way you can cover your gap.

Yes,you are eligible for famous companies because you have more than 60% and

famous companies mainly considered that not not more than two years gap is not Eligible for companies.

i have completed my b.tech cse in 2008 and then i have 2 year gap.and then i have joined 1 year training contract with stipend. and now i have 12 months experience. and now i am searching for job after 1 year contract completion.

I have total 5 Years gap.But between these 5 years gap i also completed Doeacc O level/A level,MBA from Distance program.Currently I am doing MCA with 90% marks.Am i eligible to sit placement exam for reputed ITcompany?

friend though year gaps cause attention to recruiters but it's not so that u will be debarred of sittinf for software companies because of this only reason so don't panic, also many companies including infosys etc. do not have any problems with gap yr provided u can give a valid explanation for the same.so stay cool and find out a good reason!

dear friend,

Maximum company allow only 2 year gap but you have 3 year gape so it will be create some problem .

So you can join in some certification course . it will help you for placement.

Also one good way is to go for C-DAC , they must provide some good companies for you.

I have 60% in all 10,10 2,BCA .....now I'm pursuing MCA and have 8.23 CGPA... CTS will visit our college (FIEM , Kolkata ) for campusing ..but I have 2 year gap between 10 & 12 ..will I eligible for CTS ???

aggregate marks is 60% & year gap maximum 2 year.

But you can try for other companies like Wipro,Satyam etc which doesn't put the criteria in year gap.

Why are you worried. Your percentage are just fine. Mostly companies look for an all over 60%. In some cases companies want 60% in each year of the plus 2 level also. So you might want to look up your mark sheets to check this part also. Now you have a backlog of three years and you rightly said that this is unacceptable for many companies. But there are companies like Apple corp or Vishnu Solutions or 2Coms Consultancy or HDFC, where year gap does not matter that much. So why don't you look for job options in such companies and join there itself. You can look for such companies in websites like www.naukri.com or www.monsterindia.com etc. You will have to upload your CV there and then wait for the companies to get back to you.
