IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service. Candidates who are having brilliant minds and excellent knowledge will be absorbed into the civil services like
-IAS
-IPS
-IRS etc.

There is no separate IAS Exam for the candidates to be placed in IAS.

But, instead, there is a common written exam called Civil services exam for the candidates to be placed in various civil services.

The selection procedure to be placed in these civil services is by
-CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test)
-Civil Services Main Examination
-Interview

One should have completed Graduation with any of the stream from a recognized university in order to be eligible for this exam.

As per age criteria, one should possess an age between 21-30 years to be eligible for this exam.
Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category and upto 5 years for the candidates of SC/ST category.

This Exam is being conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year.

For the academic year 2012, the last date to apply for CSAT Exam was over by 05-03-2012.

So, it is not possible for you to appear for this exam for this year.

So, I suggest you to have good preparation for this exam for this year and crack the upcoming Civil Services Examination.

If you are not so much interested and not interested to wait for 1 year for this exam, then you can crack other competitive exams and you can also opt for various Post Graduation level courses as per your interest.

Civil Services Exam is conducted by U.P.S.C twice in a year.

Civil Services Exam include various post like:-
> Indian Administrative Services
> Indian Police Services
> Indian Foreign Services
> Indian Revenue Services
etc.

In 2012 there is total 1104 seat.
Friend I am sorry to say that you can't apply this year because the last date of submission of form is over.

CIVIL SERVICES (PRELIMINARY) EXAM., 2012
> Date of notification:- 04.02.2012
> Last date of submission of form:- 05.03.2012(MONDAY)
> Date of Entrance exam:- 20.05.2012(SUNDAY)

CIVIL SERVICES (MAIN) EXAM., 2012
Date of Exam:- 05.10.2012(FRIDAY)

If you want yo can apply next year.

The date for IAS exam or you can say civil service exam this year is
5- march - 2012. then dear it is sorry to say that you can not apply for the IAS exam. because the application date is already over.so you can not apply for the exam if you want to apply for the exam then you have to wait for the next year.

IAS-Indian Administrative Service exam.

The important dates for IAS exam and also all the exams dates which is conducting by the UPSC:-




To join in IAS you have to crack Civil services excominction, You will be eligible for this exam if you are passed bachelor's degree or any equivalent degree in any stream from a recognised university. The applicant should be eligible if he or she is in final year of graduation also and one more thing is that there is no need of percentage to crack this exam.
The applicant should be a citizen of india, the age limits is 21 years to 30 years for general candidates, 21 years to 33 years for OBC candidates, 21 years to 35years for SC/ST candidates.

First step of selection process is civil services exam and then the second step is civil services mains exam. And finally the last one is personal interview.

The preliminary exam is objective type and main exam is theory type of exam.

Number of attempts:-

Four times for General category,

Seven times for OBC category,

No limit for SC/ST category candidates.
