IAS exam is conducted one time every year by the Union Public Service Commission(UPSC). Eligibility criteria: The candidate should be complete graduation in any stream from a recognised university. The candidate currently persuing final year also eligible. Percentage is also not required to appear this exam. You should be a citizen of india. Age limits: For general candidates 21 years to 30 years, For OBC candidates 21 years to 33 years, For sc/st candidates 21 years to 35 years. Selection process: Civil services preliminary exam, Civil services main exam, Personal interview. No.of attempts: 4 times for general, 7times for OBC candidates, No limit for SC/ST candiates. Well i want to tell you that cracking IAS is not an easy task. You have to prepare everything with great dedication and hard-work. Eligibility Criteria For IAS :- - Candidate must have a Bachelor Degree in any discipline from a recognized University- Age should be between 21 to 30 yrs - Candidate who are in final year can also apply. - Age relaxation is provided to SC/ST/OBC candidates. 5 year relaxation to SC/ST and 3 year relaxation to OBC If you have fulfill the above given Eligibility then you are Eligible to apply for this examination.You can fill the application form Online Only and you have to pay the fees online. The preliminary examination comprises of General studies, a 2 hour test on general knowledge and another 2 hour test on an optional subject of the candidates choice. Some of these eligibility criteria can be relaxed depending upon certain factors. Preparation tips for IAS exam The foremost thing you need to consider while looking for Civil Services like IAS is to make a wise selection of subjects for the Preliminary as well as for the Main Examinations. Often you will have choice of choosing the subjects you are familiar with. Make sure that you choose the subject you are comfortable with. Always do an analytical study of previous years’ syllabus and question papers. Look for the pattern of the subject you have chosen. It is always better to seek advice from seniors and colleagues to keep confusion at bay at higher level of the exam. The IAS exam preparation must be done in a perfect manner. Prepare for General Studies at the same time, while preparing for optional papers. You can adjust your timings for both; thus you will not be bored and be able to give more time to your studies. Never, ever compromise with your optional subjects for General Studies as every question in optional subjects will get you 2.5 marks and the paper will be of 300 marks in total. Most importantly, the input and output ration is lots better in optional compared to General Studies. The prominent thing in preparing for the IAS preliminary exams is to identify your weak points and work on them effectively. Only way to be successful in the exam, in addition to rigorous hard work, is planned and systematic study. Prepare a schedule as per your convenience and stick to it. It is essential to read newspapers and magazines regularly. Other than keeping you updated with current affairs, you will also get to know how facts are presented in a clear manner. Current issues are addressed in all Civil Services Exams, so it is a must that you are aware of recent happenings in not only India, but across the World. Complete your entire syllabus at least a month prior to the main exam. Keep the syllabus handy so that you can tally it time and again to be sure that you are not wasting your precious time in studying topics which are not of much relevancy in the exam. Consider the question papers of previous years and see the pattern of questions asked and point out which types of questions are often repeated. It is best if you attempt previous years question papers. This will help you know your mistakes and weak points better. Additionally, it will help you in improving your speed and accuracy too. |

The examination is conducted in mainly two parts. 1. Civil Services Preliminary Examination This is a common test for all those participating in the exam. 2. Main Examination and Interview. Those who qualify the preliminary exam, appear in Main examination and on the basis of performance in Main, candidates are called for Interview. The marks of Mian Exam and Interview are sum up to produce final merit list. The Main Examination comprises of following papers; - One Essay type Indian Language Qualifying Paper (300 marks) - One English Qualifying Paper (300 marks) - One General Essay type paper (200 marks) - Two General Studies papers (300 marks each) - Four Optional subjects papers (300 marks each). You have to select two subjects from the listed subjects. There will be two papers from each subject and full marks of each will be of 300 marks. The full marks of Interview will be 300 marks. IAS is a civil service exam , which is conducted by UPSC every year.. So, you have to appear in that exam after completion of your graduation.. You can also appear in IAS exam during the final year of graduation.. To appear IAS exam your age should be in between 21-30 years. For SC/ST the age relaxation is 5 years and for OBC the age relaxation is 3 years. if you fulfill all these criteria then you can appear in IAS exam.. The exam consist of two phase.. 1. Preliminary exam 2. Main exam.. After qualifying in the preliminary exam you have to go through the main exam.. If you able to clear the main exam, then they will call you for the interview..
