sir, one of my friends have failed in 2nd p.u.c science ,but he is possessing general B.A degree from IGNOU without completing his P.U.C.So if he possess this degree from IGNOU will he be eligible to write I.A.S exam.Or does UPSC recognize this kind of degrees to take up I.A.S exams? please tell me .

Dear friend,

You have to write the civil services exam in order to get in to IAS.

this exam is conducted by the upsc once a year.

you have to appear in the following papers to qualify this exam:


PRELIMINARY:

two papers:
paper-1(general studies)
paper-2(aptitude test)

MAINS9 papers)

general studies(paper1 and paper 2)
optional subject-1(paper1 and paper 2)
optional subject-2(paper1 and paper 2)
essay
language paper(qualifying nature)
english paper(qualifying nature)

after mains you have to appear in the personality test.
after mains you have to appear in the personality test.If you perform well in the personality test you may find place in the final list.


a)AGE:
general category:21 to 30 years
obc:21 to 33 years
sc/st:21 to 35 years.



A candidate must have attained 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years as on 1 august in the year of examination
the upper age is relaxable to a maximum of three years for OBC candidates and a maximum of five years for the sc/st candidates etc..

b)QUALIFICATION:
the candidate must hold a degree of any of universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislatures of india or declared to be deemed as university under section 3 of the UGC act 1956.

c)NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS:
general categort:4 attempts
obc: 7 attempts
sc/st: unlimited attempts.

you have to work very very hard from the day you satrted your preparation.so no shortcuts.work hard no other option is available.

unlike other exams it requires daily study and consistency in efforts.

you start the preparartion with the basic books like ncert.once your basic concepts are clear then you can go the high level books.

you should allocate sufficient time for preparation and dont rush through the syllabus.

if you are preparing for the civil services then you should start your preparation as early as possible.

For the Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service, a candidate
must be a citizen of India and for the other services a candidate must be

A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained

The candidate must have completed his graduation degree from a recognized university.

How to Apply
Since the exam is conducted by the UPSC hence you can get the application forms from the head/central post office of your city on payment of Rs 20.You can even the application online through the following site

About the Examination
The exam consists of three stages i.e preliminary followed by mains and finally Interview.Preliminary examination will be conducted in selected centers.I have attached the notification where you can get all the details regarding CSAT examination

To became an IAS officer you have to appear for the Civil Service Examination and crack its selection procedure which is held in three phases:-

CSAT examination Preliminary
Written examination Main
Interview

Age limit:-

21 years to 30 years for general candidate. There is 5 years relaxation in upper age limit for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidate.

Educational Qualification:-

Any Indian citizen completing graduation in any discipline with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physcs, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Enginerring or an equivalent qualification.

you should be 21 yrs old, and firstly you will have to appear for prelims and then mains
you can also consult upkars upsc book, panorma year book, and you will appear for upsc exam,which conducts civil service exams...

IAS-INDIAN ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICE, to be an IAS officer you have to appear and crack the Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC once every year.

Required Qualification to apply for Civil Service exam:-

-The candidate must be an Indian National
- Should have either appear for final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream of education from a recognised University.
-Should have within the age of 21 to 30 years which is relaxed up to 5 years for SC/ST/PH candidate and up to 3 years for OBC candidate.

There are three tire selection for Civil Service exam which is held one after another:-

CSAT-Civil Service Aptitude Test-Preliminary Exam comprises of all objective type questions.

Civil Service Main Exam comprises of subjective type questions from the syllabus as prescribed by UPSC.

Personal Interview

The candidate should have at least one year rigorous preparation before sitting for the CSAT exam as this exam is tough and competitive one.

The qualification for appearing in IAS exam is to be a graduate UPSC conducts this exam every year the exam called CSAT civil services aptitude test.When you qualify pre exam then it's necessary to appear in main exam and if you crack it then you should called for interview.To crack this exam you should prepare for reasoning,numerical ability based on matric level and english grammer,current affairs,general study and also try to improve your 2 subjects which you want to opt in IAS exam.

IPS along wide IAS comes under Civil servics exam . You need to be graduate and in age group of 21-30 years for being eligible for Civil sevices exam. (age relaxation for reserved candidates as per Govt guide lines) . Civil Services exam is happen in 2 phases
1. preliminary
2. Mains

You need to preliminary exam for being eligible for mains exams.
applications are requested for the Civil services preliminary examinations.

You want to become a IAS officer you must write Civil service exam conducted by UPSC.
Application cast is only 50/- for OC


you must be a graduate from recognized university without backlogs.and also must be an Indian,

you only qualify through 3 selection procedure those are as follows

first one is Preliminary test it have two papers.it is an objective test.in this preliminary test second paper newly introduces that is CSAT exam..preliminary round is an elimination round

second one is mains it is an descriptive.

third one is Interview..

these three rounds of total score to calculate ranks and give job to you.

for IAS exam.
Minimum education criteria = Graduate

Age limit for civil service exam is:

General category:
candidate must have attained 21 years and not be over 30 years on August 1 of the year of examination.

SC/ST:
up to a maximum of 5 years.

OBC:
up to a maximum of 3 years.

A general candidate can attempt Four times only.Where as Seven attempts of OBCs. And no limit for SCs/STs.

CSAT 2011 exams conducted on 12th June. and last date of applying for the same is 21st March...

How to apply:-You have to apply for UPSC (Union Public Services Commission) exam.

This time UPSC pattern is changed and it is called as CSAT which is coming into effect from Civil Services Examination, 2011.and so there is no option subjects...


It consits of two paper and each paper of Two hrs..


(Paper 1) (200 marks) consists of
  • Current events.
  • History
  • Geography
  • Indian Polity and governance
  • Economic and social development
  • and General science.

It is of purely objective type and qualifying exam...

(Paper II) (200 marks)
  • Comprehension
  • Logical reasoning and analytical ability
  • Decision making and problem solving
  • General mental ability
  • Basic numeracy(Class X level)
  • English language comprehension skills (Class X level)

It is of purely subjective type and followed by interview....
Based on the overall ranking and your choice of cadre, you will be provided IFS (Indian Foreign Service), IAS or IPS. The higher your rank, the choice is with you.

In case you have not not got a good rank and got into IFS, IAS or IPS, you may still become a Group A or B officer in the Central Govt.
