Main examination
The main written examination usually comprises of 9 papers in all. Duration of each paper is 3 hrs. The preliminary and mains exam are various stages in the Civil service. As part of the exam you need to first complete the preliminary test. Only after you clear the preliminary test can you appear for the final exam. For these test you need to well versed in the two optional subjects. You need to select bases on the subject you chose in graduation. Also you need to be well updated in the General Knowledge area.
