Am I eligible to select mathematics without doing B.Sc in mathematics? And also how many optional subjects should I select for main exam?
Please reply ASAP.

Hey friend,

IAS is Indian Engineering Service

IES - Indian Engineering Service

IAS and IES exam are both exam conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) and they are conducted every yer.

You cannot apply for the IES exam as you need to have done your Engineering in It as only candidates who have done their degree in departments like:

Civil Engineering

Electrical Engineering
Electronics & Tele Communication Engineering

You can only apply for the IAS exam,as you need to have got a degree regarding the education qualification.

For applying for the IAS exam, you need to satisfy the eligibility criteria:

> Candidate should have a age limit of 21-30 years for General category

> Candidate should have a age limit of 21-33 years for OBC category

Re: Can I pursue IAS or IES after the completion of Engineering in IT?

hello dear

see, after doing Engineering in IT, you can join as a IAS officer.

but you will not be eligiable for the IES exam.

for IES exam, only four discipline branch of engineering are allowed.

>>CIVIL.

>>ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING.

etc.

but in case of IAS exam, every degree holders are eligiable for the UPSC, Civil sevice exam.

so you can sit for the IAS exam.

Information Regarding IAS and IES Examination.

If you are a B.Tech (Information Technology) candidates then you are eligible for the IAS examination but you are not eligible for the IES examination because according to eligibility criteria of IES examination the Computer science and Information technology branch are not eligible for the IES examination. Both examination is known as the civil services examination which is conducted by the UPSC in ever year.

For IES examination the eligible branch is Electrical, Electronic & Communication, Civil and Mechanical engineering. The Computer science and Information technology branch are not eligible for the IES examination. You will get details information on the official website of the UPSC.

So, if you are studying in 3rd year Information Technology branch then you will be eligible for the IAS examination in the final year of B.Tech course. You are not eligible for the IES examination. For any more information about the civil services examination please visit the official website of the UPSC. :- http://www.upsc.gov.in
