Re: Difference between computer engineering and computer science?

Computer science includes all the basic studies of computer operations. It completely deals with Computer studies. But in computer engineering, there is a general paper in the first year. You will get a chance to study the peripherals of other engineering papers also. After that only you enter in the pure Computer engineering. Thus you get a good exposure in computer engineering.

and the Computer engineering is related computer languages, study about computer and also with subjects of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics engineering.
good luck.....

Re: Difference between computer engineering and computer science?

The difference is about the degree,Computer science and Computer Engineering are different in quite a few ways.

Computer Engineering even deals with subjects of other streams.Example you have subjects like Electronic Devices and Circuits(EDC),Basic Electrical Engineering(BEE) in your first year of the B.tech course. The number of core subjects increases semester wise.

Computer science is a B.Sc course of 3 years where you have to take up other optional subjects like Electronics,Physics,Maths according to the subject of your desire.

Re: Difference between computer engineering and computer science?

Computer Engineering & Computer Science both are same, only name is different, But basically this subject or branch is called Computer Science & Engineering.

In Computer Science & Engineering you read about Fundamentals of Computer, Software, Hardware and recent technologies which is used in this field.

Computer Science & Engineering means you have to learn all the languages such as C, C++, Java, Oracle, VB, VB.net, SQL. this comes under in software programming and you have to learn about hardware also.

Modification of Computer & its technologies are called Engineering, therefore i.e. called Computer Science & Engineering

Good Luck

you should have a minimum of 95percentile to get into an IIT...

Getting high percentage in GATE will only help you get placed in IITs and it depends on the rankings that is based on your marks. Candidates are ranked on two basis. One upon the overall ranking and the other type on the basis of the caste. So depending upon these rankings the candidates will be gettings seats accordingly from the cut off. So if you compare your ranking along with your last year rankings you can come to a conclusion!

Re: Difference between computer engineering and computer science?

Computer science is the science of computer. It contains the history of the computer, and all computer programming languages , and how computer is organised internally, how the memory is organised and so on.
But computer engineering is involved studying all general engineering paper in first year. Then you start learning all other papers in the computer science in 2nd year upto 4 th year

Re: Difference between computer engineering and computer science?

The computer engg has the advantage over computer science is that: You will study architectural and designing of computer in engg. Also you will read some management ubjects in the engg besides other engg branch subjects whereas these are not available in computer science.

Re: Difference between computer engineering and computer science?

computer science study is study in general line. but computer engineering is study in engineering line.

in computer science it is like other general study. only you have to study computer subject. the study is not professional.

but in computer engineering you have to know the subject as well as you have to be professional. you must study many other subject with computer like mathematics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering subjects etc. job opportunity after computer engineering is much better than computer science.

these are the difference.

NO WAY NASA NO WAY....U WONT BE EVEN ALLOWED TO WANDER AROUND THE GATE OF NASA WITH THAT QUALIFICTION YOU NEED TO DO MASTERS IN ELECTRONCS DESIGN AND ALSO YOU NEED TO CLEAR YOUR GRADUATION ONLY THROUGH IIT AND THEN YOU CAN GET A DESK JOB. FOR ASTRANAUTS JUST FORGET ABT IT YOU NEED TO TOP IN EVERY FIELD YOU TAKE.

computer science is software related in which you study how to use computer and in computer engineering more hardware related work is there.

Re: Difference between computer engineering and computer science?

Generally speaking: Computer Engineering = Computer Science + Electrical Engineering

A Computer Engineering major will deal more with hardware than a CS major but still learn the basic concepts of CS.

They are same, one is 4year degree course.
Another is a manual graduation course. BCA,MCA,B.SC(IT) comes under it.

dear friend,
practically both are same .they only differ in their names only.both are equally ranked .moreover you will get the same preference as others are getting.they both are concerned with hard ware as well as software.

Hello,
There is absolutely no difference between the two except the degree and its associated faculty of background (B.E computer science is a Faculty of Engineering)and (M.C.A is Faculty of Science) except these nothing else. But the companies shows no distinction when hiring, but the talent matters.
All the Best !!!!!!!!!

Re: Difference between computer engineering and computer science?

Hello Shyam,

Frankly speaking, majority of youth is confused in these two words/degrees, and i was one of them untill i read this article.

I personally advice you to go through it, and i know it will help you.

http://compsci.ca/blog/6-degrees-of-computer-science/

It tells that Computer Science is inherently mathematical in nature and is about writing code where as Software Engineering is thinking about writing the said code (what ever that means). And Computer Engineering discipline deals with design of specialized type of software, and incorporates more hardware material into studies.

So go through it and let me know if it helps you, and i can explain it in easy terms if you want.

See
computer science is a subject and computer engineering is a degree course

and also

computer is the theory which you study and computer engineering is the application of that science or theory
i hope answered your question

But, Computer engineering was more hardware related...........

Re: Difference between computer engineering and computer science?

see first of all bachelor in computer science is something in which you study only related to computers and nothing more....in computer engineering in the first year you will learn a lot of things from diverse fields like mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics engineering....moreover during the course of engineering you will learn many more things related to computers and other things which probably you wont get to learn doing a computer science....and last but not least is placements....placement opportunities in computer engineering are much more than computer science
