Re: How to start preparing for PSU exam during 7th Semester in Mechanical Engineering?

Hi.

There are a lot of PSU's who recruit numerous Mechanical Engineers from across the country.

I am attaching a syllabus of GATE which is commonly followed in most of the PSU's examinations.

You can refer to it, and start revising and preparing topic by topic.

You can also take up any crash course or distance postal package program from :

Made easy, Brilliant tutorials, Gate forum etc

and so that you can get a guidance.

All the best.

for psu
you should concentrate on your study which you studied earlier beacuse allthe technical question are from those subjects.and for genrel awreness you should read daily newspaper and for reasioning type problem you should solve some tricky problems(books for this verbal and non verbal reasioing by R.S. Agarwal).
and revise whole syllabus every month.

Mechanical engineers are employed by majority of

PSU's

some top PSU's include

NTPC

ONGC

ISRO

DRDO

IOCL

SAIL etc.

you need to prepare for aptitude general studies and your subject paper.
follow standard books of your branch and
and do not forget to practice previous papers.. this is most important.

In order to prepare for recruitment test of various PSUs you need to work on your aptitude as well as your engineering subject.

The aptitude test consists of questions on 4 sections namely maths, english, GK & reasoning. For preparing for these subjects you should refer these books:

Reasoning - verbal & non verbal reasoning by R.S.Agarwal
Maths – Quantitative aptitude by R.S.Agarwal
English - GRE Barron
GK - pratiyogita darpan, competitive magazine by upkar prakashan

Re: How to start preparing for PSU exam during 7th Semester in Mechanical Engineering?

Since your in the last semester hence i hope you have covered majority of the portion required for the PSU(Public Sector Undertaking).

There are about 277 PSU's in India and a graduate in Mechanical Engineer may not go through all of these exams. Each Government organization conducts it's own examination and has got it's own recruitment procedure. Some of the Government companies which you can go through are:-

BHPV,SAIL,ISRO,NTPC,ONGC,IOC...etc

First of all go through the portion part from the official website of the exam in the company which you want to go through and later prefer standard books of R.K Bansal,Rajput.Since your a mechanical graduate hence core companies may cover all your core subjects in the syllabus part.

If the syllabus is entirely based on your core subject then it's better that you start your preparation right from the fundamentals i.e from the subjects of second year of Engineering course.

Since each Government organization has got it's own undertaking hence it's better that you go through the Employment News where you can get the notification details or visit the official website of the Company which conducts the exam.
