Yes you are eligible for it as the criteria for it is:

*You have passed graduation from recognized university.

*Age limit 21-30 yrs..

Dear all, i have a question that i have passed out my college and completed my graduation in yr. 2005.
My birth date is 17.12.1983. So age is nearly 29yrs.
Due to certain family problems i coudnot study further but i want to start again and complete my dream of becoming an IAS.
Is there any way to do so?
Pls suggest.
By the time i start study i will be 30 which is stated as the max limit of general category age limit.

Dear friend,
Yes you are eligible for IAS exam after completing Graduation.

Eligibility criteria

(i) Age limits :


Candidates age must be between 21 years to 30 years.
There is a relaxation for reserved category.


(ii) Educational Qualifications :


Bachelor’s degree of a recognised university with at least one of the subjects or in Enginerring or an equivalent qualification.

(iii) No. of attempts :


General candidates can attempts maximum four times.
OBC candidates can attempts maximum seven time.
There is no limit for Sc/st candidates.

IAS (Indian Administrative Services) is basically for those who are firmly determined for dedication of themselves towards the own country.

If you are so interested for IAS,after being Engineers, Doctors, or Ph.d you can sit IAS exam conducted by UPSC.

Application forms will come out in the month of January.

According to the new exam pattern of the IAS exam

1) General-Studies paper which carries 150 marks

2) Optional paper which carries 150 marks.

Eligibility Criteria :-

1.Educational Qualification:To appear in IAS exam you should have a Graduation degree in any stream from a recognize University. If you are in final year you can also eligible to apply for the examination.

2.Age:The age must be between 21 to 30 years at the time of appearing of this examination. The age relaxation is also applicable for the candidates belong to reservation category.

No.Of Attemptes:

General Candidates - 4 Attempts

OBC Candidates - 7 Attempts

SC/ST Candidates - No Limits.

The General Studies paper and one Optional paper both the papers are the compulsory paper.

Indian Administration Service exam is held once in year.

Indian Administration Service exam is part of Civil service exam and exam is conducted by UPSC.

Eligibility criteria for IAS exam:
Candidate should have complete graduation degree with any stream from a recognized university.

Age should be between
21 to 30 years for General category candidates
21to 33 year for OBC category candidates
21 to 35 years for SC/ST category candidates

according to this you are eligible for giving away the exam if you have attained minimum age for examination.

Number of attempts:
4 attempts for General category candidates.
7 attempts for Obc category candidates
14 attempts for SC/ST category candidates.

IAS stands for Indian Administrative Services and to become IAS Officer, you have to complete your Graduate degree course in any discipline from a recognised University, Final year Graduate candidates are also apply for UPSC Civil services examination to become IAS Officer.

Graduation is the Minimum eligibility to apply for this examination and you must have attained the age of 21 years and not attained the age of 30 years.

So, If you are Fulfill the Given Eligibility Criteria then you are eligible to fill Next Year UPSC Civil services examination Next year.

The Notification of this examination will be Published on 04/Feb/2012

The last date of apply for this examination 05/March/2012.

Preliminary Examination Date : 20/May/2012.

So, Please wait for the Notification and then Fill the Application form Online.

The Complete Eligibility Criteria are Mentioned Properly in the Notification. So wait for the Notification and for more information check official website.
