Re: GATE eligibility if Graduation Degree is not from AICTE Approved College

hi dear,
if you are not approval of aicte then you will be approval of ugc my friend.

UGC vs AICTE

UGC and AICTE are two apex organisations that cater for the higher studies in India.

One of the main differences between University Grants Commission (UGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), is that the later one basically deals with technical education.

When talking of UGC, it is the apex body that approves universities in the country. UGC provide funds for affiliated universities and colleges. The UGC also conducts exams, known as NET, for appointing teachers in colleges. The headquarters of UGC is in New Delhi, and there are six regional offices at Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, Guwahati, Bhopal and Bangalore.

The AICTE is only a statutory body, which deals with co-ordinated development and proper planning of the technical education system in the country. All the Engineering, MBA and Pharmacy colleges are affiliated with the All India Council for Technical Education.

The AICTE, which was established in November 1945, has its headquarters in New Delhi. The UGC was established in 1956 as a statutory body of the Union Government. However, UGC was formally inaugurated by the Education, Natural Resources and Scientific Research Minister, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, in 1953.

While technical institutions are overlooked by the AICTE, the other universities and colleges fall under the UGC.

When talking about the function of the University Grants Commission, the UGC ACT says that the first function is to look into the financial needs of universities. It then allocates and disburses grants to these universities. Well, the other academic functions come only after these functions. On the other hand, the AICTE ACT gives priority to undertaking surveys in various fields of technical education at all levels. The funds’ allocation and disbursement comes second to this.

Another difference that can be seen is that the UGC is free to do whatever it likes, but AICTE is not free from the intervention of the Human Rights Development Ministry.

Summary

1. One of the main differences between AICTE and UGC, is that the former is exclusively formed for technical education.

2. While technical institutions are overlooked by the AICTE, the other universities and colleges fall under the UGC.

3. UGC approves universities in the country. It provides funds for affiliated universities and colleges. The AICTE is only a statutory body, which deals with co-ordinated development and proper planning of the technical education system in the country.

4. The AICTE was established in 1945, and the UGC in 1956.

so no need to worry n go for it.

all the best

Dear friend
There is a good number of colleges which are not approved by AICTE by they are approved by UGC. If your college is not AICTE but approved but affiliated to some state technical university or approved by UGC (Undergraduate commision, Govt. Of India) then you are eligible for GATE. eg. VIT(Vellore) is not approved by AICTE but it is affiliated by UGC and students of VIT are eligible for GATE.
Thank You

Hey its nothing but foolishness to have done a course from a college which is not approved from AICTE,You don't have a value for that certificate.

But if your college is UGC approved then your eligible for GATE.

If your college is not even UGC approved then your not eligible for GATE.Anyways, keep working hard.

No........!

Candidate who has done B.Tech/B.E. after Diploma Engineering without having studing +2 (PCM) are not eligible for GATE.

That mean if you haven't studied +2 after 10th then you are not eligible to appear in GATE.

No UGC approval is not enough, any technical Institute is required to be approved by AICTE for providing any technical degree courses like- Engineering, Management, etc.

Students are always allowed to refrain such institiutes which are not approved by AICTE or any other "State Technical Education Board/Council"

Re: GATE eligibility if Graduation Degree is not from AICTE Approved College

the approval of AICTE is not a matter to appear in GATE. there are so many institution which have only UGC approved no AICTE approval. the students from that institution are also eligible for GATE.

but for GATE examination you must study engineering. your degree is not clear. is it engineering degree? subject may similar to B.E but your degree must be engineering. i think you should contact with your nearest IIT zonal office by phone. ask them giving your all details you are eligible for GATE or not. they only can give you the true information. just call them.

best wishes.

Sorry but not only GATE even the other major exams ask for an AICTE degree approval. So you are not eligible for it.

And i am not sure about the colleges which take admission to those who dont have AICTE appoval. But you can try searching for it.

So best of luck

Re: GATE eligibility if Graduation Degree is not from AICTE Approved College

Dear friend,

According to the mentioned eligibility criteria of GATE exam you are not eligible for appearing at this exam.

Because only candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by the professional societies recognized by AICTE/UPSC are eligible to appear for this test to go in higher studies i.e M.Tech.

So i regret that you are not eligible for applying for GATE.

Good luck!
