IAS is an exam that makes you to enter into the competative world and make you to get the top posts such as DC and DSP and ACP so on..

You can take any course as your graduation course.

Because to become an IAS you should have completed your graduation first in any stream from any recognized university....that is the only educational criteria....then take a look at the following things.

1. Your age should be between 21 years and 30 years....the age is calculated on the basis of 1st of August of the year applying for it.
[33 years for SC/ST]

2. Should be a citizen of India.

You should have good knowledge in current affairs and social issues.
[Because you need to have very strong in that]

So if you fulfill the above conditions, you can easily crack IAS exam.

official website-- http://www.upsc.gov.in

Only graduates and final year students are eligible for IAS.

But if selected, then final years students have to show their certificate of passing at the time of interview.

But you can start preparation from now...

You should have good knowledge in current affairs and social issues.
[Because you need to have very strong in that]

** But there is no notification of IAS exam is available right now....whenever it will be available, you can apply online here.

Hello Sonsur:

IAS examination is conducted by UPSC every year for civil services. Civil service exam consists of two papers, Prelims (CSAT) and Main.
Prelims has Paper 1 & 2 ; Main has Paper 1 &2. You can choose subject according to your convenience and knowledge depth.

2012 Civil service Prelims is conducted on May 20th. Official Notification would be on 4th feb,2012.

Any graduation with minimum 50% is well enough. Your conduct record should be very clear. You would not have been indulged with any crime, FIR.

I know you are not such a person, but however just i would like to share this point with for your safer side.

More information is available in bit.ly/xNmySf

safe side say 50% and above , but anywhere in the notification you will not find anything relating to your academic marks.

If you have less marks also, there is no need to worry with core interest to become a civil servant you can reach your goal easily.

About Examination Form:

After release of Notification
you will have two ways to apply for CSE(Civil Service Exam) :
i.e.,
1)Online Mode
2)Offline Mode.

->Online Mode

You have to fill the application form online in the link provided below
www.upsconline.nic.in

after filling it online you have to pay the fee through Debit/Credit card

If you apply through this mode then the fee is Rs. 50/-

and this is the most sophisticated method of application. Very efficient and easy too.

->Offline Mode:

You have to buy the application forms for 1000/- Rs. and fill it and post it.
This is also good method only.

Whatever is convenient to you choose that.
