Backlog is not a problem for the placement but backlog can effect the placements, if the time of placement one have a active backlog, could effect the placements.

Re: Problems due to backlogs in placements or campus recruitments?

I've done B.B.A,but currently i have backlog in one of my first year subject. Though I have cleared my third year exam with 72% marks but due to this backlog I'm afraid of applying for jobs in good companies. This is frustrating for me. Currently I'm working in a C.A firm but I'm not getting any job satisfaction. I have to wait at least 4 months for my 1st year results. Please suggest what to do in this situation.

Re: Problems due to backlogs in placements or campus recruitments?

I am a final year mechanical engineering student from NIT Silchar. I have 6 backlogs in first semester since I could not appear for the exam due to medical reasons. If I get selected in a core company....will my backlog be of any issue? I have already cleared them before 2nd sem with a CGPA of 8.08. I have no other backlogs after 2nd sem. What will the company check apart from medical testing? My overall CGPA is 8.00...X-91.2%,XII-88.4% (CBSE).

Re: Problems due to backlogs in placements or campus recruitments?

Here is the eligibility criteria that you should possess in order to make entry into any of the top IT companies.

You should have completed your Graduation in Engineering or B.Tech without any pending backlogs.

You should be a candidate of career 60 having scored a minimum of 60% of marks in all your academic levels.

The academic gap of the candidate should not be more than 2 years.

Candidates who are pursuing final year of B.Tech course can also apply for the selection procedure.

The selection procedure would involve
Written Exam
Group Discussion
Technical Interview
HR Interview

As you are having 2 backlogs in the first semester of your B.Tech course, try to finish them in the upcoming semesters and make sure that you should not be having any more backlogs and you should fulfill the above mentioned criteria.

Along with your academics, collect the placement papers of the top IT companies and practice them.

Apply for the job opportunities in any of the following modes
On campus recruitment
Off campus recruitment
Direct walkins etc.

Here are some of the top IT companies in India.

TCS
Infosys
Wipro
Genpact
Google
Oracle
Dell
Delloite
Syntel
Polaris etc.

Wish you all the best.

Re: Problems due to backlogs in placements or campus recruitments?

Now a days companies are not recruiting the students who have backlogs.Companies mostly recruiting the students who have minimum percentage of 60%.So try to work hard and avoid backlogs so that you won't face any problem during placements.

Re: Problems due to backlogs in placements or campus recruitments?

If you're having backlogs then you might face a bit problem in recruitment and placements as many and most of the companies do not allow students to sit in their campus drive if they're not all clear till then. It is one of the major criteria for many of the good companies. But don't loose hope there are some other companies too who don't keep this criteria for their placements.

Now as far as your placement is concerned do clear your backlog before 7th semester and give papers from now with extra attention.

Re: Problems due to backlogs in placements or campus recruitments?

hi friend,
i am sorry to say thyis that you can not apply if they ask for 60% aggregate throughout the career.
but you have certain chances if they don't ask for 60% in your school level.
anyway infosys asks for 68% throughout the career in the ssc,intermediate,b.tech.
also there will be some companies which will not ask for the percentage cut off in your academics and they seperately keep the tests
don't worry you can apply to government jobs.
all the best

Re: Problems due to backlogs in placements or campus recruitments?

dear,
First semester exam results are not considered for job. But the most important is the final year. If you get backlogs in the final 2 semesters then you may face problem in getting a good job as most companies prefer students with no backs first

So work hard now and try to clear your backs and dont repeat it again as it becomes really hectic if you have some backlogs later.
and you can easily apply for many companies who take the backlog students.

Re: Problems due to backlogs in placements or campus recruitments?

Yes I agree that First Semester result does not harm the campus recruitment but still you have to improve yourself better even by giving best in your 2nd semester. And always target of making 70% marks in your all semesters. Infact Backlogs are not an issue but if you are thinking of 70+ marks than definitely you will maintain 65 atleast and 65% is good enough to get the best job of your choice.

Eligibility in most of the companies is 60% in their final year and some have 65% eligibility. So it depends on which company you talking about
