Re: Career and placements in mechanical engineering?

HI

both the fields are good.

Earlier, civil was bit down but with time its condition has improved alot and as the infrastructure sector is improving, you can expect good salary after doing Civil from good engineering college.

Mechanical is ever green branch. You will get good placement if you do it from good college

in short, it depends on your interest and kind of future you want, both are good, both are core engineering and both pay you good and has good future.

Re: Career and placements in mechanical engineering?

Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest branches of engineering. It is also referred to as the ‘mother’ branch of engineering. Another appealing feature of mechanical engineering is that the application base of this field of study is extremely broad and diverse. Almost all inventions during the ancient period and a vast majority in the modern era are direct contributions of one or the other application of mechanics.

Traditionally, mechanical engineers have to deal with concepts such as mechanics, thermodynamics, robotics, kinematics, structural analysis, fluid mechanics and many others. These concepts are applied in the process of designing state-of-the-art manufacturing units, different types of motor vehicles, aircraft and aerospace parts and a vast assortment of industrial machinery. Mechanical engineers also contribute in the development of various engines, power plant equipment, heating and cooling systems and other simple and complex machinery. Mechanical engineers not only design new mechanical systems but they are also responsible for testing,

Re: Career and placements in mechanical engineering?

hi friend

Mechanical Engineering is a very good branch. about job prospects you can be sure that you will get a good job in mechanical engineering sector.

As I am a mechanical engineer I can assure you that after doing B. Tech/B.E. in mechanical engineering you will have huge number of jobs, but all depends upon the knowledge you will gain at the time of your study.

If you want to go in IT industry then from here too you can go.

If you want to go for higher studies certainly after doing M. tech you will have upper hand.

If you want to go for research certainly you can go.

I think you can take mechanical engineering and focus on studies to gain knowledge.

Re: Career and placements in mechanical engineering?

this is a great field to enrich your career and there are large openings for mechanical students every year. at the begining of engineering there are three stream civil, mechanical and electrical.after chemical growth in everyday human life then chemical engineering introduced.so obiviously mechanical engineering is a good stream and well prospective stream.

Re: Career and placements in mechanical engineering?

Since your a mechanical student hence courses related to Autocad will help you in a better manner.Since you a mechanical Engineer you can expect jobs in the following sectors:-
Construction, engineering, landscape design, product design and manufacture, naval and aeronautical designer..etc

There are many PSU's which recruit Mechanical Engineers. Some of them namely are:-

ISRO,BEL,IOCL,BARC,NTPC,BHPV,Steel Plants across India,SAIL,BHEL,GAIL,ONGC..etc

Each company has its own recruitment procedure hence if you want to get settled in any of the companies then you need to go through each of the exam separately. The test usually comprises of two stages i.e Written test followed by interview. You can visit each of the company website's for notification details.

Some of the Private Sector companies which recruit mechanical Engineers are:-

JINDAL,L&T,Hindustan Motors,Tata Motors,Caterpillar,Mahindra & Mahindra..etc

Each company has its own recruitment procedure. Some of them keeps a written test all over the country and then select merit students who has to go through the interview.Companies like L&T selects mostly in the form of campus recruits where an Interview is followed by written tests.
