Drug addiction was a disease and should be treated accordingly. 2. The Act also said that the export, import, sale, distribution or possession of barbiturates, had to be licenced. |

Two of the laws , the poisons act and the dangerous druges act were passed in 1919 and 1930 respectively The opium act was quite old having beging as early as 1878 At present the following Acts & Rules in India : The drugs and cosmetics act , 1940 The pharmacy act ,1948 The drugs & magic remedies act , 1954 The narcotic drugs & psychotropic substances act , 1985 The medicinal & toilet preparations act , 1956 The drugs order 1995 Some other Laws The industries act , 1951 The trade & merchandise marks act , 1958 The indian patent & design act , 1970 Factories act |

Dangerous drug act was first established in 1920 , in this act-- -Drug addiction is taken as a disease and should be treated like it. -Possession or any kind of profit making activities on drug , should be licensed.
