Re: How good is Biotechnology as a career? Scope in Indian and Abroad?

Biotechnology and Genetics are two different areas in Life Sciences field. Genetics involves the studying of genetic arrangement of the organisms and applying the same to create new organisms.

Biotechnology is the science that makes use of advance techniques to develop human beneficial products.

As per Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, they are not developed upto the mark in India.

In many of the colleges, proper lab equipment is not there for the candidates to perform practicals and gain knowledge.

In addition, efficient staff is not there in the colleges to train the candidates in a proper manner.

If you want to do Graduation or Post Graduation in Biotechnology or Genetic Engineering, better do it from Abroad itself so that you can gain good knowledge and there itself you can find good number of job opportunities.

I have seen the candidates in India who have completed Post Graduation in Biotechnology and working for the salary of 10K.

Some candidates did not get job even though they completed Biotechnology 2 years back.

So, this is what the information from my side.

Wish you all the best.

Re: How good is Biotechnology as a career? Scope in Indian and Abroad?

It is one of the upcoming career options for the students and one of the fastest growing areas of science. So the craze for this course is sky high at the moment. Biotechnology is the blend of science and technology.

You can do either B.Tech in biotechnology or B.Sc in biotechnology. The latter is more theory oriented and the former is more technology oriented and it will give you the tag of an engineering. The course content is also a bit different. If you are interested in research field then you can go for the B.Sc degree.

To pursue the B.Tech course you need to give the engineering entrance exam for which it is important that you secure 50% marks in science stream and get a good marks. Better the marks better will be your chances of getting a good college. However there are some colleges which provides direct admission as well.

Some colleges also provides the B.Sc course as well for which application needs to be submitted either online or offline based on the option available. Merit list will be published based on the marks you have got in the board exam. You need a minimum of 60% in aggregate to apply for this course. The cut off marks varies from one college to the other. Direct admission scheme is available in some colleges for this course as well.

After completing this course you can easily work in both public and private sectors. Biotechnology related companies like aquaculture, agriculture, pharmaceutical companies generally hires freshers.

You can work as a researcher, administrator, breeder or marketing manager in various companies. Even the teaching profession can be a lucrative option if you want to be associated with the educational institutes.

Generally the work areas of biotechnology students includes gene therapy, nanobiotechnology, DNA technologies, drugs and vaccines, enzyme engineering and technology.

To know more about both the B.Sc and B.Tech course download the files attached.

Biotech in India has got a limited scope. But there are good opportunities for biotech graduates abroad.
But let me tell you, biotech can be taķen by any student, not just bio-maths.

And genetic engineering MS is a good option after B.Tech biotech, but that too again not in india.
So,i would suggest you to apply for this study abroad..

Hoping it helps you!!!!:-D

if you are thinking to do bio-technology,
the jobs in this stream are increasing.in future there is very much scope of this
so its good doing bio technology
but you have to do m.b.a or phd to get higher post job.
bio technology colleges in punjab are:
GURU NANAK DEV UNIVERSITY,AMRITSAR
PUNJABI UNIVERSITY,PATIALA
THAPAR UNIVERSITY,PATIALA
BABA FARID COLLEGE,BHATINDA
CHANDIGARH GROUP OF COLLEGES

Re: How good is Biotechnology as a career? Scope in Indian and Abroad?

Hi friend,

the scope is very good, most of the foreign countries are investing their money for

research in this field in india because they can get human resources & brilliants for a

less amount of money, for them its a less amount of money, but for us its a huge

salary.so go ahead.the four fields which have a great future are bio-tech,nano

tech,computer science & chemical enginering.

so you can choose it for your future.

all the best.

my sincere advice is to quit the idea of doin biotechnology or anything related to it unless and until u can take up your mind to do Ph.D or clear UGC NET...coz me too a research scholar in biotechnology nly........There are nly a very few emerging scopes for biotech in india compared to abroad. if then too if your aim is to do biotech then prefer well standard colleges and be skilled in all the techniques of biotechnology so that u can get consideration.another the chance is very less..thankyou
