Guidelines To Follow For IITJEE:

## One questions which always strikes our mind when we sit down to study is from where should we start? I would suggest you to start from basics and that means from the very first chapter itself. Choose the subject which appeals to you the most and start working from the first day itself.

## If you have gone through the previous year question papers of IITJEE then you must have noticed one thing that the questions are mostly objective type and conceptual. So the margin of error is very less over here. There is no scope of wild guessing. Either yoy know the answer or you don't. So this gives a brief idea i presume as to how much you need to study to get the syllabus under your control.

## In the question paper equal weightage is given to physics, chemistry and mathematics. So from the very beginning itself you should not be biased towards any subject, a common mistake which many students does thinking they will be able to make up for it in the next subject. This is a wrong concept. Here every marks counts and so you cannot afford to leave any part.

## Make a time-table and try to stick to it as much as possible. Keep some time for revision work to find out how much you have been able to retain so far. After completing one lesson try to solve the back exercise then and then to find out your progress level. This will help you to boost your confidence.

## As mentioned earlier that the syllabus demands of you a conceptual approach to problems therefore if you think by mugging up sums and problems you will be able to work out all problems then you are wrong. If they tweak the sum a little bit then you won't be able to get the hang of it at all. So first read, understand and then approach it.

## From four to five months beforehand you should start practising the mock test papers. Since time management is very important therefore you should keep a stop watch besides you. Never go for the papers with solutions. This won't give you the push to work out sums on your own. If you face problem anywhere then sort it out by consulting your teachers. Don't go for solutions as that is the easy way out.

## For last minute revision you should also prepare some notes. This will help you to construct answers properly and at the same time you can go through this before the exam to kill time. Sitting down with friends and solving problems in groups can also be mentally enriching. Group discussion is always a good way of sharing your thoughts and it helps to clarify lot of things playfully.

## The pressure of studies is always immense but positive approach and relaxed attitude needs to be maintained as otherwise things will only become more complicated for you to handle. Therefore eat well, sleep well, keep some time just for yourself when thoughts of studies should be put to rest completely. If possible do a bit of yoga and meditation regularly. That helps a lot. Outdoor sports can also be a good option to resort to.

Hey dear user there wont be any special book for IIT-JEE instead of your 11th 12th syllabus. It will be advised to work hard on your basics and try to get as much knowledge and tricks as you can to solve all the questions. It is advised to look up for NCERT Books based on CBSE patter.

NCert RS Agarwal maths for 11th as well as 12th.

NCERT physics vol 1&2 for 11th and vol 1&2 for 12th

NCERT chemistry vol 1&2 for 11th and vol 1&2 for 12th.

Best of luck

Re: How to pass IIT entrance exam? Books to be studied from?

The only way to pass IIT entrance exam is hard work. You need to be focussed right from the very first day of class 11. Develop strong interests in the subjects and build a strong conceptual knowledge. For better resuls you can join a good coaching institute like FIITJEE. The only thing you need to make sure that you need to work really hard and make sure that your concepts are clear because the questions asked in IITJEE are conceptual and require a smart thinking and are not just formula oriented.

These books will help you

physics
H.C.Verma(both the volumes)

chemistry
K.L.Chugh(for class 11 and 12)
R.C.Mukherjee

maths
M.L.Agarwal

also subscribe for the magazines 'physics today', 'chemistry today' and 'mathematics today' at www.mtg.in for perfect results.

best of luck!!!

Dear Friend,

You want to crack the IIT-JEE having good rank

At first I want to say that IIT-JEE is one of the most tough exams in India. Many students requires 2 to 3 attempts or even more to crack this exam.

But there are also many students, who can crack this exam in first attempt. If some one really work hard, study hard, engage himself/ herself completely in preparing for IIT-JEE, he/ she must succeed.

1. Always start preparing from 'Basics'

2. Never prefer solutions of questions before giving good attempt to the question. Try to solve the problem till you exhausted, always give a second or third attempt to the problem before moving to solution page.

3. Do not leave the question in middle. Never jump from one question to another in hurry. Lots of students practice questions without attempting it fully.

4. Always try a question with Conceptual Approach, do not just read the question and start solving it without realising the points that what is being asked in the question.

5. Divide your time well for your preparation of boards and for your IIT-JEE. So you will not miss anything. Time management is really important to do well in this exam.

6. Always keep the syllabus with you, before preparing the new topic look at the syllabus first.

7. Always try to solve 50-60 problems on per topic or chapter, but try to solve the quality problems which need different applications and concepts to solve the problem.

8. Make your own strategy to crack the exam, rather then following others. Try to learn the fundamentals of the concepts rather then memorising the concepts.

9. Always practice previous year's papers; it will give you the idea about the type of questions asked in the exam, and the level of difficulty of the questions.

10. Always remember that time is really important factor for every exam. Try to finish your paper well before time, so that you will get time to review your answers.

Dont follow too many books, which will confuse you rather. Only follow limited and selected books that suits you well...

The name of some books that can help are as follows.......

Chemistry

1 NCERT Chemistry XI & XII

2 P. Bahadur Physical Chemistry

3 Arihant Prakashan Organic Chemistry

Physics

1 H.C. Verma Concepts of Physics Vol I and II

2 I.E. Irodov Problems in General Physics

3 Halliday, Resnick & Walker Fundamentals of Physics

Mathematics

1 R. S. Agarwal Maths XI & XII

2 S.L. Loni Plane Trigonometry Part I

3 S.L. Loni Co-ordinate Geometry

4 Hall & Knight Higher Algebra

5 I.A. Maron Problems in Calculus of One Variable

6 Vectors & 3-D Geometry Arihant Prakashan

Best of Luck.........

An ex-IITian has written about this and she keeps writing about it: http://education.ezinemark.com/iit-jee-preparation-study-long-study-wrong-56010dbfd38.html To study smart as opposed to studying hard, you should use new age tools like videos which is the new age and smart way to study about it. There are very very detailed videos available which deal with each and every subject and explain the subjects through 3D images and animations which is a huge improvement from the classroom teacher methods. You can order full set or free demo DVD through kaysonseducation.co.in

Re: How to pass IIT entrance exam? Books to be studied from?

i had answered this question several times but for your help ,i am answering it once more .cracking IIT-JEE is not so simple .you need to study hard for atleast 2 years regularly for cracking exams like IIT-JEE. follow the following instruction to get success ;
(1)for PHYSICS ,solve ERODOV, H.C VERMA
(2)for MATHS read R.S AGGRAWAL,R.D SHARMA,DINESH OF 11&12
(3)for CHEMISTRY read NCERT book of class 11&12 .ncert books are the best as prescribed by the experts.

apart from this i will suggest you to join some kind of coaching because it is very difficult to prepare through self study .

Well Ms ''priyanka_swengg'' and Ms ''sindhusweety'', it is not at all fair if you copy posts from a dedicated member and paste them under the same discussion question. We shall see what the moderators have in store for you. Meanwhile, this is a warning for all members. I respect forum rules and ethics, and I want you to do the same.

Meanwhile Mr JAMESS, I want to correct your statement - there are 15 institutions that participate in the IIT-JEE. The list is mentioned under the banner on every IIT website. However, I applaud your suggestions - they will surely help the student.

Thanking all

Re: How to pass IIT entrance exam? Books to be studied from?

Hi!
For clearing the IITJEE exam you have to devote yourself to study. You have to work hard and study about 12 to 15 hours daily.
Basically iitjee paper consists of deeply knowledge of 11th 12th course. So you first complete the +2 course then prepare from reference books like arihant's publications,m.l.khana.I.E,Irodove,O.P.aggarwal.
