Re: Prospects for PG diploma course in intellectual property rights?

Hi dear,

Intellectual Property is innovation oriented career and people with technical knowledge are very much as asset to any organization growth by protecting their intellectual property. It’s a highly respectable and honorable career where your knowledge solves fascinating technical and legal problems.

Following opportunities are available for IP professionals with technical background
Job title:
a) Patent Engineer / Patent Analyst / Patent Specialist
b) Patent Agent / Patent prosecutor
c) IP Consultant
d) IP Trainer

Technical Functions:
a) Prior Art Searches
b) Patent Analysis
c) Claims and Specification Drafting
d) Patent filing
e) Patent Prosecution
f) Landscaping
g) Portfolio Management
h) Valuation, Licensing, etc.

Moreover, a technical person may spend a few years performing one or more of the above listed technical functions, post which s/he can opt for a techno-legal or a techno-managerial role by going through some additional courses (such as LLM (technical), LLB, IP Management, etc.)

The jobs are available at KPOs, Corporate firms (domestic companies), MNCs, Law Firms, Universities and Colleges. Professionals can also look forward to working abroad and participate in the above listed technical functions.

Thanks

If you wish to pursue a career in IP then a distance learning course may not prove to be advantageous. I highly recommend GIIP (www.giipinfo.com), if you want to do a serious program and then also get placement in this area

Re: Prospects for PG diploma course in intellectual property rights?

It's certainly right decision and also the right time. IP is becoming a booming industry in India now and more Patent Analyst/Engineer are required. But before entering into this field, you should do little research on Intellectual Property Courses & reputed IP institutes. Post Graduate Diploma in IPR would be best option for you..

Thanks

hi!

If you are interested in pursuing a career in IP then PG diploma course in Intellectual property rights will definitely help you. It will open many opportunities for you if you wish to seek job opportunities in areas of IP and patents with MNCs, evolving domestic industries, outsourcing companies, (KPOs and LPOs), law firms, Government and R&D Institutions.

But you have also done Msc in biotechnology then why don't you utilise your degree. There are many job opportunities for biotech candidates. There is no problem in doing a correspondence course. It will not impact your career prospects. PG diploma in Intellectual property rights is a good option. Both the institutes well reputed for this course.

Prospects for PG diploma course in intellectual property rights?

Dear sir, I am currently in my final year of MSc Biotech. I want to pursue a PG diploma course in Intellectual property rights from NALSAR or NLSIU. I would like to know the career prospects & job opportunities after finishing PG diploma in the same. Is it beneficial to do a course in intellectual property rights? Also, NALSAR & NLSIU both offer only distance education for this course. Is it ok if I take up a distance education course rather than choosing an institution that would provide classroom teaching? Please reply asap. Thank you.
