Re: Qualification needed to become IPS Officer? Percentage needed to become IPS Officer?

One should crack the following selection procedure in order to become IPS Officer.

CSAT Exam (Civil Service Aptitude Test)
Civil Service Main Exam
Interview

CSAT Exam is going to be conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) once in a year.

By cracking the above selection procedure, the candidates can be placed in any of the following civil services
IAS
IPS
IFS
IRS etc.

As per your query, here is the eligibility criteria required for the candidates to apply for this Exam.

One should have completed Graduation from a recognized university. Candidates who have completed Graduation with any of the stream are eligible to give this Exam.

No minimum percentage of marks are required for the candidates in Graduation. Successful completion of Graduation is more than enough in making the candidate to be eligible for this Exam.

As per required age,

For General category : 21-30 years
For OBC category : 21-33 years
For SC or ST category : 21-35 years

If you possess the above mentioned eligibility criteria, I suggest you to have good preparation for this Exam and crack it.

Wish you all the best.

HI

for becoming IPS officer, you need to appear for civil services examination, conducted by UPSC once in a year.

Based on your performance and rank, you would be given call for mains.
If you qualify mains, then you would be given call for Interview.

A final merit list is prepared based on your performance in exam and interview.
Based to the rank in merit list, IAS, IPS , IFS etc are given.

Some basic eligibility,

- You need to be citizen of India
- You should have a graduation degree from UGC recognized college/institute
- you should not have any live backlog

- Relaxation of 5 year for SC/ST and 3 year for OBC as per reservation norms

As such, there is no marks cut off mentioned in graduation to appear for UPSC

Re: Qualification needed to become IPS Officer? Percentage needed to become IPS Officer?

Dear friend

For being an IPS officer you have to appear in civil services exam conducted by UPSC.
UPSC conducts civil services examination every year and this is the only way to be an IPS officer.
There are mainly three steps of the exam.

First one is prelims exam.
The prelims exam exam consist of a General Studies paper and an Optional Subject paper chosen by you from the given list of subject at the time of application. This is the pattern till this year. The pattern of preliminary is about to change. There could be a Common Aptitude paper but it can't be said for sure.

Second step is
Mains Examination which consist of two GS papers, two optional subjects, essay paper, language paper, english paper etc.

Third step.
once you qualify mains on the basis of marks of mains you will be called for Interview and the marks of interview added with rest of mains marks to calculate final score to publish ranks.

Eligibility
Bachelor degree from any Govt of India recognized university.

And there is no minimum Percentage eligibility criteria to apply for this examination. Final year graduate candidates are also eligible to apply for this examination.

So, If you have completed your Graduation in any discipline OR appear your final year graduate examination then you are eligible for Civil services examination, But to apply for this exams your age should between 21 to 30 years. The Upper age relaxation is applicable for SC, ST and OBC Candidates.
