Re: How to prepare for IAS or IPS exam? Books to be referred for this?

First of all I want to discuss a fact with you i.e., IAS/IPS doesn't have separate separate examinations

These two are services Indian Administrative services and Indian Police Services are the abbreviations for IAS and IPS respectively.

not only these we have nearly 24+ services in the sum of Indian Civil Services.

For recruiting Personnel in to all these services a common exam is conducted called Civil Service Examination .

This exam is conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission).

Now coming to your question,
Preparation for this tough examination is done differently depending upon the tastes and preferences of different types of aspirants.

No aspirant will prepare relevantly but the one thing which will be common in every type of preparation are you should be

Sincere towards your preparation.

make perfect use of time available.

To take coaching if needed for a particular subject.

To make smart plans in order to achieve the goal what you aspire for in this way you have to prepare for this examination.

In the same way books are also in Numerous Amounts each and every book has its own significance we can't tell one book is good and the other book is bad because the information from various books only make you get ready to give the examination.

So every book available in the market are good pleas once go through the type of author for his detailed explanation. You may like one type of explanation by a author so roam around the book stalls to collect material.

One's success will also depend on selecting the right material.

So hope for the best

1. Be very particular about the subject you choose for prelims, as you will be appearing for an objective type of paper. History, maths, geography may prove to be very scoring. Choose subjects which have availability of books, reading material and guidance.
2. G.K. will definitely pay in your prelims. Reading newspapers, watching TV news and of course quiz shows
3. Enhance your personality because it will definitely be one of the criteria for selection. For IPS physical wellbeing is of great importance, you should be medically fit
4. Improve your communication skills.
