IPS Exam is a part of the Civil Service Exam and it is conducted by the UPSC every year. Based on the rank you secure you will be alloted in the Indian Police Service.

Although in other civil service exam apart from Indians, citizens of Nepal, Bhutan and Tibetan Refugees are also allowed to take part. But this exam is only for the Indian citizens.

To sit for this exam you must possess one bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institution. Even final year students who are about to give the exam or awaiting the result are also eligible.

While giving this examination your age should be less than 21 years old. The upper age limit for this exam is 30 for the general category. There is age relaxation for the reserved categories.

You have to cross two hurdles to finally get selected. First of all there is the preliminary stage and lastly the main stage which includes again one written exam and an interview session.

Since this examination demands the candidates to be physically fit therefore there are certain physical standards you have to satisfy and along with that you may also be asked to do some other physical activities as well.

Here i have shortlisted some of the top reference books you can use for this examination. Please go through this list. You may find this helpful.
