You need to qualify in the upsc(union public service commission) exam to become a IAS officer
The eligibility criteria for IAS exam is as follows:

>>A Bachelor degree in any stream of your choice from a recognized university or its affiliated college .There is nothing like limiting percentage criteria regarding the % scored in the graduation.

>>Age :21 to 30 years
You should have completed 21 years of age before attempting for the exam.An age limit of 3 years for OBC CATEGORY and 5 years for SC/ST is given.

The recruitment pattern is as follows:
PRELIMINARY EXAM
MAIN EXAM
PERSONAL INTERVIEW

One can appear for the preliminary exam in the final year of graduation itself. Once you clear the prelims you are eligible for mains. Then the short listed candidates will be called for the personal interview.

The pattern of the exam involves both objective and descriptive patterns.
One should have a thorough idea about the current affairs to appear for the exam.
