To pursue M.A in English under IGNOU, you should have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. There is no age limit for the admission. The first year M.A in English includes 4 compulsory courses. The syllabus for the first year consists of British Drama, Aspects of Language, British Poetry, and British Novel. The second year M.A includes 1 compulsory course and 3 optional courses. The title of the compulsory course is Literary Criticism and Theory. You have to choose any three from the 7 optional courses. The titles of the optional courses are Indian English Literature, American Literature, A survey course in 20th century Canadian Literature, Australian Literature, English Studies in India, New Literatures in English, and American Novel.
