Hi

GATE - Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. This is an Entrance which is conducted by the IIT's every year for the M.Tech admissions and PSU also recruit candidates based on their GATE Score.

Since you are from the Mechanical Stream, you have got a lot of opportunities in the GATE as well as the PSU jobs because a large number of them want to take Mechanical Engineers. If you wish to apply for the GATE, then you should be a minimum graduate in B.E/B.Tech with good passing aggregate. Final year candidates can apply but not the Pre final year candidates.

I would recommend that you take up some good coaching for this from Career Launcher, Made Easy, IES Academy and all so that you can get a proper guidance for the GATE. Since there is age nor attempt limits for this hence you can apply for this as many time as you wish.
