Dear aspirant,
It is generally recommended to go for higher education so as to get the jobs of higher packages.

You can study Master degree in the same group.

It is good to study hard and finish the course and if you finish PhD then it is of great importance.

Otherwise you can proceed to give the UPSC IAS entrance.
It is one of the toughest entrance due to the syllabus and its content.

But if you prepare for this exam for 2 years then it will be easy for you.

Upsc:
As Clear from the above analysis, about half of the candidates backed away right before the beginning. Also among the 1,67,035 taking the preliminary test. only about 1/4th were the real competition ( The remaining people attend the examination without much seriousness. The reason for a lethargic approach of those people are, they attend the exam due to their parents insistence orwithout proper preparation or as i said before, a wrong negative approachand expecting luck will favour them )

Furthermore, out of the 40000 real competitors, 10,283 cracked the preliminary test. i.e one out of every four goes through pre exam(success rate of about25%. So the success rate of .2% among 3,18,843 students comes up to 25% for the preliminary exam .
Furthermore, out of 10,283 candidates appearing for the Main examination,1582 people are selected for the personality test(again a high success rate of about 15%).
And finally out of 1582 appearing for personality test, 791 candidates(one out of two i.e a success rate of 50% ) were finally shortlisted for prestigious civil services!!

Prelims:
Paper1: General studies- 200 marks
Paper2: English -200 marks

Cut off for general:
Around 200

Main Examination

There are nine papers.

Scheme of the examination:

Paper-I & II: Two Language papers (One in Indian Language and one in General English, each carries 300 Marks)

Paper-III: Essay (200 Marks)

Papers IV & V: General Studies (2 papers ,each carries 300 Marks)

Papers VI, VII, VIII & IX: Two optional subjects (each having 2 papers and 300 marks for each paper)

Believe you can and you will on the half way.

Best of luck

Hi Kiran,

As you have graduated in English, you can do Master's degree in this subject i.e M.A in English.
After completing master's degree you can join academics or join some institute as professor or lecturer. For this job, I mean the job of a faculty may require a B.Ed degree.

You can also complete your B.ed degree from a recognized university. That will help you to strengthen your career in many ways.

There are options of doing M.Phil/Phd in English after completing M.A(English). So choice is yours, what to do next in your career.
