Re: How can I become an IAS officer after passing B.Tech?

Candidate who has completed Bachelor of Technology course is also eligible for the Indian Administrative Service. The criteria set the Union Public Service Commission says that any candidate with graduation degree can appear for the exam.

The process of becoming IAS officer starts with clearing the entrance exam called Civil Services Examination. It is one of the most difficult entrance exams in the world. With a large number of candidates applying and very few seats to grab, it is not easy to become IAS officer.

Therefore you should give yourself sufficient time to prepare for this extremely tough entrance exam. You should prepare at least 6-8 months in advance before appearing for the Civil Services Examination.

The first step of appearing for the exam would be to fill the form. The forms are made available during the end of the year while entrance exam is conducted in the following year. The written tests are conducted in two stages.

Eligibility

1. IAS is strictly limited to Indian nationals.

2. A graduation degree is must to appear for exam.

3. There is no percentage criteria.

4. You age should be 21 to 30 years if belongs to General category.

5. The age limit for OBC is 21 to 33 years.

6. The age limit for SC and ST candidate is 21 to 35 years.

Exam Pattern

As I mentioned earlier than written tests are conducted in two stages:

1. Preliminary Exam

2. Main Exam

The main exam is followed by personal interview.
