Yes you can become Chartered Accountant after 12th class with 60% marks. There is no percentage criteria and you should be just pass in 12th class from a recognized board of education.

All you have to do it get registered for CPT (Common Proficiency Test) for getting entry into CA course.

CPT is an objective type paper which will have questions related to following subjects:

-Accounting

-Mercantile Law

-General Economics

-Quantitative Ability

You have to score at least 50% marks in this examination to qualify for the next step of CA course i.e CA IPCC.

IPCC is Integrated Professional Competence Course and it will have 2 groups. You have to pass both the groups to become eligible for CA Final.

You also have to undergo practical training to become a Chartered Accountant.

I've completed my 10th standard in icse and I'm unable to decide which stream is best for me commerce or science and I wouldn't prefer maths as my subject .I've got 91% and everyone feels that I'm capable of of becoming a doctor bit I know that it is a very tough job and requires many precious years so can pls anyone show me the pros and cons of both becoming a doctor or becoming a CA.....thank u

Re: How to become a chartered accountant after scoring 60% in 12th class?

No course is easy, same can be said about Chartered Accountancy course as well. The course is tough especially the Final Course which very few candidates manage to crack every year.

But if you study hard, it is certainly possible to clear the Chartered Accountancy course.

Since you have completed the 12th standard, the next step is to apply for the Common Proficiency Test (CPT). The CPT test is known as the first stage of Chartered Accountancy.

It is conducted in June and December. You will have to register to appear for the test. It is mandatory for students who have passed 12th standard to clear the Common Proficiency Test.

There are basically 4 subjects. They are divided equally in two groups. If you scores 30 percent marks in both the groups, you will clear the Common Proficiency Test. The four subjects are:

1. Fundamentals of Accountancy

2. Quantitative Aptitude

3. Mercantile Law

4. Economics

After clearing the Common Proficiency Test you will have to take admission for the Integrated Professional Competancy Course or IPCC in short. After 9 months of study you can appear for the group 1 written test.

Group 1

1. Accounting

2. Business Laws,Ethics and Communication

3. Cost Accounting and Financial Management

4. Taxation

After which you can also apply for the mandatory 3 years of Articleship and at the same time you will be allowed to appear for the Group 2 exam for IPCC.

Group 2

5. Advanced Accounting

6. Auditing and Assurance

7. Information Technology and Strategic Management

Final Course

The most difficult part is the final course. Only after clearing IPCC you can apply for it. There should be no more than 6 months left in your articleship to apply for it.

Group 1

1. Financial Reporting

2. Strategic Financial Management

3. Advanced Auditing and Professional Ethics

4. Corporate and Allied Laws

Group 2

5. Advanced Management Accounting

6. Information System control and Audit

7. Direct Tax Laws

8. indirect tax Laws

Re: How to become a chartered accountant after scoring 60% in 12th class?

Yes you can enroll for the CA course. As a first step you must register for the CPT level. If you enroll before September you can appear for this exam this December. Else you will be eligible for the exam next June. If you follow a systematic approach you can certainly clear the exam. Regular studies is a must. You must select this stream if you have interest in accountancy and taxation.
