The answer is pretty simple, you should directly go for Marine Engineering rather than mechanical first. There is no point of doing both. If you are pursuing Mechanical Engineering then I would suggest you to find more technical jobs rather than going for the Marine Engineering.

Pursuing Marine Engineering after 10+2 is smart choice that you would not regret. Marine Engineers are paid very well therefore there is no need to do Mechanical first. You will find a decent job directly after completing Marine Engineering.

You see, Marine Engineers are in huge demand today. Most of the import export from one country to another is done via sea routes. Therefore sea plays very important role in the economies of countries that are dependent of exports and imports.

For smooth sea operation, it is necessary to have talented individuals who can help in construction and maintaining ships. This is where Marine Engineers comes into picture. You need to take care of thousands things related to a ship, whether its engines or the engine room. Your job is technical, very complex which is why it pays well.

There are plenty of jobs and to grab one, you need to pass Marine Engineering with good score. Now here are the eligibilities for the Marine Engineering course.

1. 10+2 from a recognised board and Physics, Mathmatics and Chemistry should be the subjects.

2. Must score at least 60 percent in 12 board in case you are appearing for IIT-JEE and around 50 percent in case of AIEEE entrance exam. Other exams would also require you to secure around 60 percent.

3. You also need to score at least 50 percent in English in Class 10th or 12th.

4. Your age should be below 25 years for admission in Marine Engineering.

Physical Requirements:

To get admission for marine engineering course, you need to meet some physical requirements:

1. Your minimum height should be 150cm with correlated weight.

2. Standard norms for eyesight is 6/6 with no color blindness.

If you meet all these requirements then you are eligible to join Marine Engineering. Just appear in one of the Engineering entrance exams below:

UPSEE

IIT-JEE

AIEEE

BITSAT

Some good Marine Engineering colleges include:

Birla Institute of Technology and Science

Marine Engineering Research Institute (MERI)

Praveenya Institute of Marine Engineering and Maritime Studies

Maharaja Engineering College

RVS College of Engineering and Technology

PSG College of Technology

Nehru Institute of Engineering and Technology

Coimbatore Institute of Technology

Tamilnadu College of Engineering

DEAR FRIEND!!!

Marine engineers are the highest paid engineers. Many like minded candidates opt for this stream and they get a job either off-shore or on shore.

You can join marine engineering courses directly after 10+2 such as b. tech marine engineering in various reputed colleges. For this you have to take the IIT-JEE examination and apply your score to the respective colleges. The selection is truely merit basis.

Another option is that you first complete b.tech in mechanical engineering and then you apply for a 6 months score leading to graduate in marine engineering.
For more details about the graduate marine engineering course after mechanical engineering please visit http://imu.tn.nic.in

I personally suggest you to join b.tech MARINE ENGINEERING as it will help you to learn the course better and have a get a job of your wish. It is the most suitable option for you.

Thank you and all the best!!!!
