When do I need to start coaching for IAS? I am about to join B.Sc in Zoology

I finished plus two with 77% marks in science stream. It's my childhood ambition to become an IAS officer. Now i am about to join BSc.Zoology.What is the selection criteria for a student to appear for IAS prelims? How much will be the chances for a degree student to be selected to appear for prelims since lakhs of students applying for the exam each year including doctors,engineers,etc..?Should i join for IAS coaching right from the beginning of my degree classes? What's the minimum percentage required in degree to appear for IAS prelims? Is 50% enough?Isn't it good to focus more on academics at first, scoring good marks and after it join coaching for IAS?Will the intensive coaching after graduation help me to perform well in the highly competitive exam? What will you prefer as an optional subject other than zoology?Which are the books that i have to read to understand the constitution and history of India? Is it essential to go deep through world history? If so,what i have to read for that?

Hope to hear from you at the earliest.I hope that your suggestions will help me a lot in fulfilling my dream.
