But I want to confirm that whether physical education is compulsory or not even marks of maths will not be counted in overall |

Re: What are the compulsory and optional subjects in prelims and mains for medical student in Civil Exam HI Following are the compulsory subject for IAS General Study- paper One Language- 1 paper English -1 paper optional subject list :- Agriculture Management, Animal Husbandry & Vet nary Science Mathematics Anthropology Mechanical Engineering Botany Medical Science Chemistry Philosophy Civil Engineering Physics Commerce & Accountancy Political Science & International Relations Economics Psychology Electrical Engineering Public Administration Geography Sociology Geology Statistics Indian History Zoology Any language paper ( Literature ) Arabic, Assamese, Bengali, Chinese, English, French, German, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Marathi, Malayalam, Manipuri, Nepali, Oriya, Pali, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu There are certain subject you cant take together. Commerce and Management Anthropology and Sociology Maths and Statistics Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science Management and Public Administration Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Medical Science Any two branches of engineering. Combination of two literatures in the above list. All the best |

Optional Subject in Civil Services exam you can chose any subject. It is not compulsory to chose the Subject. Friend optional subject is chose when you qualify the Prelims exam. In prelims exam you have to write General Studies and C.S.A.T. No optional subject exam. In Civil Services Mains you have to select any one optional subject. List of optional subject:- Agriculture Management Animal Husbandry & Vetinary Science Mathematics Anthropology Mechanical Engineering Botany Medical Science Chemistry Philosophy Civil Engineering Physics Commerce & Accountancy Political Science & International Relations Economics Psychology Electrical Engineering Public Administration Geography Sociology Geology Statistics Indian History Zoology Law GOOD LUCK! |

Without qualifying Preliminary you can not apply for Mains examination. Preliminary Exam will have two objective type paper of General Studies and Aptitude Test. There will be 2 Optional Subjects in Mains Examination: Both Optional Papers will be of 250 marks each. 1st Optional Subject should be any one from below List: Agriculture Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science Anthropology Botany Chemistry Civil Engineering Commerce and Accountancy Economics Electrical Engineering Geography Geology History Law Management Mathematics Mechanical Engineering Medical Science Philosophy Physics Political Science and International Relations Psychology Public Administration Sociology Statistics Zoology 2nd Optional Subject should be Literature of any of the following languages: Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santhali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, English For more information visit http://www.upsc.gov.in |
