Re: Difference between scheduled and backword caste? SC stands for scheduled caste and BC stands for backward caste... All the SC,ST AND OBC come under the BC category. The people whose ancestors involved in occupations like Shoemaking and handloom-weaving Leather-dyeing Agriculture and skilled labour Making of different articles from bamboo Sheep-breeding Iron work....come under the Scheduled categories. the people whose ancestors involved in occupations like Tailoring and printing of cloth Blaksmithy Washing of clothes Cooking Barber’s job...come under the Backward categories. In the olden days, economically, social and educationally, all these castes are at the lowest level in the society. These people were not allowed to mingle with the highers classes in the society and were not given education. So,the government has brought reservations to the people belonging to these castes to provide education. Through these reservations, these people can get into the reputed educational institutions and can attain higher positions. The main motive of bringing these reservations is to provide education to all the scheduled and backward classes of the society. |
