CDS Exam eligibility Criteria like :: ====================== *** The candidates must be citizen of Indian *** The candidates must be complete graduation degree in any Indian recognized university *** Age limit , 19 to 24 for IMA 19 to 25 OTA 19 to 22 NA 19 to 23 AFA *** Male and Female candidates both are eligible for this exam. Re: Merchant Navy after B.Com? No you can not apply for the job in Merchant Navy. The commerce background students are not eligible for job in Merchant Navy. You need to have completed 12th with science subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Maths. The commerce students and arts students can not apply for any job in Merchant Navy. The science stream students have the option to decide whether you directly apply for the job in Merchant navy after 12th or continue with their studies. After 12th with PCM you can apply for the deck cadet job in Merchant Navy. Upon selection you will go through 3 months pre sea training to handle the sea. Generally the companies arrange this training for the candidates. But there is very little scope of promotion with deck cadet job and therefore a large number of aspirants prefer doing graduation course which will offer you better officer level jobs. The graduation courses I am talking about are: Marine Engineering B.Sc Nautical Science Both courses will offer you officer level jobs in Merchant Navy. To pursue you must meet the following criteria. Eligibility 1. You should have passed 12th standard. 2. Physics, Chemistry and Maths should be the subjects. 3. You should be unmarried to apply for the course. 4. The age limit is 20 years for the exam. 5. There is 5 years relaxation. Direct Entry Apart from Marine Engineering, you can also do other Engineering courses and yet apply for the officer level jobs. B.Tech degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Technology can also get you officer level jobs. However you will have to complete 9 months long pre sea course in Marine Engineering from MERI. Therefore its a big no for you. You should consider some other career option apart from the Merchant navy. |

Only candidates who have completed 12th standard in the Science stream are eligible for the job in Merchant Navy. > The student should have completed 12th standard with PCM subjects to apply for the job in Merchant Navy. The job offered to 12th pass candidate is deck cadet. Before he can apply for the job a 3 months long pre sea course is required to be completed. > Generally this course is arranged by the company itself. After completing 12th you get the option to either go for deck cadet for continue with the education to apply for the better officer level jobs. > The officer level jobs are offered once the candidate has completed graduation. You should either apply for the Marine Engineering or the B.Sc Nautical Science course. Upon completing of any of these two courses you can make it into the Merchant Navy. ♦>> Eligibility :~ 1. Candidate must pass 12th standard with PCM subjects. 2. The age limit is 20 to apply. 3. Five years relaxation is given to SC and ST. 4. Candidate should be Unmarried. 5. A Medical test is required to be passed. ♦>> Direct Entry :~ > B.Tech graduates in Technology/Electrical/Mechanical are eligible for direct entry in Merchant Navy. Navigation department Engineering Department Administrative Department etc. Being a Commerce graduate, you may join the administrative department of Merchant Navy as Pursuer, also known as Ship's clerk. The job involves all the clerical job on board. To be eligible for the same, apart from being a graduate, you must have fair knowledge of accountancy and computer operations. |

Re: Merchant Navy after B.Com? It is a must that the candidate should be from a science background. Both Physics and Chemistry are a must and also along with that Mathematics is also required. So you cannot apply for the same. You need to look for other options. You could probably take a MBA or any other course in the commerce stream. |
