CA course is conductedby The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) which is establishedby the special Act of Parliament- The chartered Accountant of India, Act-1949. Course Procedure:- 1. Registration with ICAI After PassingSecondary Examination (10th) 2. Apply and Appear for the CommonProficiency Test after passing senior secondary Examination. 3. Register for Integrated ProfessionalCourse (IPCC) and Appear for IPCC Exam. 4. Complete Orientation and InformationTechnology Programs. 5. Undergo for Article ship for threeyears after passing either Group-I or Both Group 6. Register for Final after passing BothGroup of IPCC and At least 30 month article ship and appear for FinalExamination. 7. Applyfor the Membership. Common Proficiency Test (CPT) - The CPT or Common Proficiency Test is the first level ofChartered Accountancy examinations. A person can register for CPT aftercompleting Grade 10 and take the exam after completing High School (Grade 12).It is an objective type examination and consists of 200 multiple choicequestions. CPT covers four basic subjects divided intotwo sections viz. 1. Fundamentals of Accounting (60Marks) + Mercantile Laws (40 Marks) and 2. Economics (50 Marks) +Quantitative Aptitude (50 Marks). Every incorrect answer on the CPTexam carries a 0.25 negative mark. A candidate is required to secure a minimumof 30 per cent marks in each Section and a minimum of 50 per cent marks inaggregate in all the four Sections to pass the Common Proficiency Test. CPTExams are held in June and December in paper pencil mode. On-line CPT exams arealso conducted periodically. But with effect from 3rd Aug 2012 CPT is exemptedfor the Graduates, Post Graduates and the students having equivalent degrees.Commerce graduates with 55% and other graduates with 60% can take directadmission for IPCC. IPC or Intermediate Professional Course: - IPC or Intermediate Professional Course is the second levelof Chartered Accountancy examinations. A person can take the IPC Examinationafter passing CPT and nine months of study. IPC has two groups of sevensubjects. Group - I consists of four subjects and Group - II of three subjects.A passing grade is awarded if the candidate obtains 40% marks in each subjectand 50% in aggregate in each group. Subjects are:- Group I Paper-1 Accounting Paper-2 Law Paper-3 Cost Accounting and FinancialManagement Paper-4 Taxation (Income Tax &Service & VAT) Group II Paper-5 Advance Accounting Paper-6 Auditing and Assurance Paper-7 Information Technology andStrategic Management Final Exam: - CAFinal Examination is the last and final level of Chartered AccountancyExaminations. Any person who has passed both the groups of IPCC, during thelast six months of article ship can take the Final Examination. This examconsists of two groups of four subjects each viz. Financial Reporting, StrategicFinancial Management, Advanced Auditing and Professional Ethics, Corporate andAllied Laws, Advanced Management Accounting, Information Systems Control andAudit, Direct Tax Laws and Indirect Tax Laws. A passing grade is awarded if thecandidate obtains 40% marks in each subject and 50% in the aggregate in eachgroup. Article ship:- After passing Group - I of IPCC, a candidate must undergo a rigorous 3 yearon-the-job training as article or audit assistant, article ship. Only members in practice are entitled to engage. |

Well before you apply for the Chartered Accountant (CA) course please remember that it is one of the most difficult courses in India where only 15 percent of the candidates manages to pass every year. This figure should give you some idea about how difficult CA could. I am sure you know about the importance of Chartered Accountants. In case you don't, the responsibility of CA include audit of financial statements, taxation, management accounting etc. There are several options in front of candidates after passing the CA. You can work in a company and help with audit or open your own office. To become Chartered Accountant after completing 12th, you would require to complete the course offered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). There are basically three stages of the CA Exam. Those who have completed graduation course are eligible of exemption from first stage. But since you have only completed 12th class, there is a need for you to do all three stages which I am mentioning below. Common Proficiency Test (CPT) Any student who has completed 10th or 12th is eligible to appear for the Common Proficiency Test (CPT). This exam is of 200 marks and candidate is required to score at least 100 marks to pass the Common Proficiency Test (CPT). There are four stages of the exams: 1. Fundamentals of Accountancy 2. Economics 3. Mercantile Law 4. Quantitative Aptitude Integrated Professional Competancy Test (IPCC) IPCC is the second stage of the CA Exam. Those who have completed 12th are required to first pass the CPT. However those who have completed graduation course with at least 55 percent marks in B.Com or 60 percent marks in other graduation courses can skip the first step. Final The third stage happens to be the most difficult stage of CA. There are two sections in the final stage of Chartered Accoutant Course. Section 1 1. Financial Reporting 2. Strategic Financial Management 3. Advanced Auditing and Professional Ethics 4. Corporate and Allied Laws Section 2 5. Advanced Management Accounting 6. Information System control and Audit 7. Direct Tax Laws 8. indirect tax Laws The other options for commerce students include going for BCA. If you had Maths as one of the subjects in 12th then surely you can go for BCA course. It is computer related course therefore make sure you have some interest in it before applying. However please remember that you may not be able to get good job just with BCA. You would require to complete Master in Computer Applications (MCA) to apply for job in MNC. You can also pursue B.Com following which there is an option of doing Master in Business Administration (MBA) course which would get you job in Banking, Insurance or stock broking sector. Alternatively you can do M.Com after the B.Com and apply for National Eligibility Test which would get you lecturer job in central government colleges. If teaching is you passion then you can also puruse B.Ed after the B.Com. Once completed the B.Ed, you can apply for the CTET exam for teaching job in central governmet schools. Other options are: Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) Cost Accountancy (from ICWA) Company Secretary ship (CS) |
