Re: Procedure to take admission in NIT college?

Dear,

NIT stands for National Institute of technology. It is one of the most reputed technical universities in India after IITs. There are many NITs in India providing courses like B.Tech, M.tech and MCA.

After polytechnic or diploma students can take admission in regular engineering stream in direct second year through lateral entry. But i am sorry to say NIT does not provide any lateral entry for diploma students s you cannot take admission in it.

However you can take lateral admission in IITs through GATE exam. But for that you really need to perform well in GATE.

You can also write LEET exam. LEET stands for lateral entry entrance test. This test is taken by diploma holders to take admission in direct second year of engineering. These tests are conducted on state level. But some colleges and Universities too conduct Lateral Entry Tests.

If you have scored at least 60% in your polytechnic then you are eligible to write these exams for lateral entry.

So prepare well for it and give your best!

All the best!

You will able to take admission in B.Tech course after appearing in JEE(Joint Engineering Exam) conducted by the IIT.There is no any other entry method for taking admission in B.Tech course in National Institute of Technology.

Eligibility required to take admission in NIT Engineering Colleges is as follows :-

The minimum academic qualification of candidates should be passed out in 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognized board/university and should be passed out individually in Physics and Mathematics as a Compulsory subject and any one of the subject as a optional paper :
  1. Chemistry.
  2. Biology.
  3. Computer Science.
  4. Bio-Technology.
As per admission procedure of year 2012-2013 candidates age should fall between 01 October 1987.But candidates who are from SC,ST and Physically Handicapped will get 5 years of age relaxations.

So its final that you will have to apply for IIT-JEE Exam and you should have a valid rank in IIT-JEE Exam.Eligibility required for appearing in IIT-JEE Exam is as follows :-
  • Candidates should have a Inter/10+2 degree with Physics,Mathematics and Chemistry with a minimum of 60% marks in each subjects.
  • candidates who have completed their 3 year's Diploma course in Engineering will also be eligible to apply for IIT-JEE and should have a minimum of 65% marks in Diploma course.
  • Candidates age should not be above 25 years.
IIT-JEE Written exam will be objective type with multiple choice answer. There will be two paper and each paper will include 100 questions.Total duration of each paper will be of 2 hours.
Paper I will include questions from Physics and Chemistry.
Paper II will include questions from Mathematics.

All questions will be based from Intermediate level,so you must follow N.C.E.R.T Book of Mathematics,Physics and Chemistry of Inter level.

Hi friend.....

To take admission in NIT college:

You shorld be pass the 10+2 with Physics , Chemistry & Mathematics diploma in engineering for lateral entry into second year.

Admission is NIT was based on AIEEE scores but from now only one entrance will be there so you have to apply for only one entrance exam.

From 2013 there will be one entrance exam for every engineering college. The exam will be called ISEET.

So you must prepare the NIT entrance exam and get the admission the NIT college.

Hi

NIT's are the government colleges which are very famous and renowned TECHNICAL institutions in our country. There are many NIT's here as compared to the number of the IIT's and all these are the government colleges. NIT- National Institute of Technology.
NIT gives admission to students ONLY through AIEEE Exam. Even if you are a polytechnic or diploma holder, I would suggest that you take up your AIEEE attempt and then try to score the best in it.

AIEEE - All India Engineering Entrance Examination. This is one of the top most entrances in the country which is organized and held by the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) once every year in the month of April right after the board exams are concluded.

Since you are not a Class 12th pass instead a graduate, you would have to apply for this exam to take Engineering admission in any of the NIT's across the country. To APPLY, Click Here

->> The Eligibility says you should be a minimum 12th pass or diploma holder from a recognized school or university to apply for this. Physics, Chemistry and Maths are compulsory subjects. Only 3 consecutive attempts would be granted to a particular candidate.

Once you appear for the exam, you have to score a rank within the top 5000 students in India because all the NIT seats are filled up within that rank. I am sorry to say that there is no other process to get admission in the NIT's however you can get lateral entries in some of the colleges but that is in vary rare cases. AIEEE is the only option.

Hope this helps

All the best

Hello friend, sorry to say but you cannot take admission in NITs after polytechnic. The eligibility criteria for admissions into NITs is minimum 50% marks in PCM group in class 12th.

However, there are many other top Engineering colleges in India which consider Plolytechnic students like COEP, VJTI, VIT, etc.

Please maintain a high score in your diploma subjects to ensure admission in these top notch colleges.

Please keep track on the notifications regarding application deadlines in the leading newspapers.
