Re: Under which stream can a B.Arch Graduate give UPSC IES Exam?

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS OR QUALIFICATIONS FOR IES:
No. 1 : A candidate must have an "Engineering degree" from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central Government or State Legislature in India.

B.Arch isnt an Engineering degree. Period. So you may appaer JEE and study Civil Engineering. Poor architects.

Re: Under which stream can a B.Arch Graduate give UPSC IES Exam?

IES-INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICE conducted by UPSC once every year for recruitment of Graduate Engineers to the top technical post in the various Dept. under Central Govt.

The IES exam is held in Four Categories of Engineering:-

-MECHANICAL
-ELECTRICAL
-CIVIL
-ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATION

The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having completed Graduation in engineering in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years of age, can apply for IES.

As you are a B.Arch. Graduate interested to apply for IES, then you can only able to give IES exam in Civil Engineering Category which is suited to your qualification of B.Arch. Hence you have to make preparation according to the syllabus of IES for which you may you may log on to the official website of UPSC for necessary information regarding syllabus of IES i.e. www.upsc.gov.in

Re: Under which stream can a B.Arch Graduate give UPSC IES Exam?

There are four categories in Engineering Services Examination.

i. Civil Engineering
ii. Electrical Engineering
iii. Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
iv. Mechanical Engineering.

As you are a B.Arch. graduate so, Civil Engineering is the only category where you
can find something suiting your qualification and interest both.

There could more than half of the syllabus completely new for you but if you have
to appear the Engineering Services Examination then practically you have
only one choice which is Civil Engineering.

Refer the UPSC website for syllabus of the examination.
