Re: Which books to prepare from for CAT exam?

dear friend,

CAT Preparation Books
It is always very difficult to teach techniques that would help one crack the common admission test. However, students are always advised to read a lot of books and practice sample question papers to do remarkably well in the test. You can come across a number of CAT preparation books available in the market. Most of the books cover all the major aspects of the examination and also guide the students to score well.

Books for CAT Preparation
The three main sections of Common Admission Test are Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation, Verbal Ability and Quantitative Ability. There are quite a number of books available for the students to prepare all the three aspects of the competitive examination. In the following sections some basic CAT preparation books are suggested. However, students must note that the given list is not exhaustive.

Quantitative Ability: In order to do well in this section you need to practice High School Level Mathematics and certain chapters of higher secondary. You can purchase NCERT books of standards 9th to 12th for taking CAT preparation. O.P. Sinhal books are also recommended for students preparating for CAT.

Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation: Quite a good number of books are available in this section for the students to start their preparations. Logical Reasoning: Mba Mat Cat Atma Aima Xlri Scmhrd Nmims Jmet Bank Po & All Other Competitive, How to Prepare for Data Interpretation and Logical by Arun Sharma and Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning for the CAT by Arun Sharma are some of the books which you can buy for strengthening your preparation. You can also order your books online.

Verbal Ability: You can purchase Wren and Marten to start your preparations. A good dictionary would also be of great help. You should also study good intermediate level text books on history, economics, political science, science and other subjects. Students should also read at least two English newspapers daily. Editorial section of the newspaper would also help you to improve your English. You can also read magazines and other books available to increase your vocabulary. This habit of reading newspapers and books would also help you a lot during the time of group discussion and interview.

CAT Study Materials
Students who have joined CAT coaching centers generally get study materials from their respective institutes. The study materials offered are designed keeping in mind the various aspects of the examination. Students are expected to go through the study materials and even practice the model question papers provided on a regular basis. Mock tests are also organized by the institutes to judge the preparation status of the students. The mock test questions are prepared following the pattern of questions set in the common admission test.

all the best..................................

Re: Which books to prepare from for CAT exam?

Common Admission Test (CAT) is usually a two hour fifteen minutes test (2 hrs 15 mins.), comprising of three sections. The main three sections of CAT are Quantitative Ability,Data Interpretation,Verbal Ability. The best book to refer for all these sections are books by R.S Agarwal.

You can even refer some of the books mentioned below:-

Quantitative Ability:- The questions are designed to stress more on reasoning skills of the candidates, rather than on their computational skills. You can prefer books of O.P. Sinhal,The Pearson Guide To Quantitative Aptitude by Nishit K Sinha,

Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation:- This section consists data such as caselets, pie diagrams, bar graphs, etc and questions are set to evaluate the candidate’s skills at analyzing the given information. You can prefer Data Interpretation and Logical by Arun Sharma,

Verbal Ability :-This section explores your understanding of the English Language and also tests you on Reasoning Skills. You can prefer Verbal Ability by Arun Sharma.
To enhance grammar skills its better that you read books, magazines, newspapers and journals.
