Re: Can i get admission in engineering 2nd year after BCS?

If u want to become a engineer then dont go for engineering after completing ur BCS, BCA, BSC Degree. Go for your mastering degree MCA or MCS by completing ur mastering you will be a software engineer. In MCA there are many fields such as "MCA in engineering" so u can go for it.

Yes you are eligible for lateral entry for Engineering courses after completing B.C.S course. Since Bachelor in Computer Science (B.C.S) is computer related course, you can apply for 3 year Engineering course in CSE, IT etc.

There would not be any issue for you applying for the lateral entry scheme. This scheme is given for candidates who have either completed diploma in Engineering or B.Sc/BCA/BCS course.

Such candidates can apply for admission in Engineering college via lateral entry scheme. You would be given admission in the second year of B.Tech course. The stream of Engineering depends on the qualifying course. Since in your case qualifying course is BCS, you are eligible for B.Tech courses related to computers.

The process of getting admission via lateral entry is different from normal procedure. You are not gonna be appearing in AIEEE or IIT-JEE entrance exam. Each university has its own procedure of giving admission via lateral entry.

Some universities provide direct admission based on the performance in qualifying exam. What this means is that if you have scored at least 60 percent marks in BCS course then several Engineering colleges would be more than happy to give you direct admission.

While some universities give admission based on performance other universities conducts written exam of their own for such seats. Since colleges reserve some 10 to 20 percent seats for the lateral entry scheme, they ask candidates to appear in written test for admission.

Universities also give away seats for lateral entry scheme via common exam called LEET which stands for Lateral Engineering Entrance Test. Most states have LEET exam through which Engineering colleges give away admission for lateral entry scheme.
