After completing M.Sc in Physics you have various options. You can opt government as well as private sectors. In government sector you can choose teaching sector also. If you want to become a teacher then you need to qualify TET, CTET and if you are interested to be a lecturer then you have to qualify NET. After qualifying NET you are eligible to join as a lecturer in any government college. You can also join any college under government as a research specialist.

After the MSc course in science you can go for the GATE exam by which you can do the M.tech course.After completing the M.tech course you can get the job easily in the technical section.

Or

You can go for the NET examination by which you can get the job of JRFs and Lectureship.

The candidates completing M.Sc Physics will be having good future in the teaching field and as you mentioned about NET the candidates qualifying NET are give preference for the posts.


The NET qualified candidates are having good scope of jobs in teaching field so it is better to go for the exam.

You have various career options to pursue after completeing Maters in Physics.

1) You could pursue teaching and work in Colleges/Universities
2) Work for a government organization that is into research.
3) Work for private firms based on your specialization. Firms such as Bosch, Mercedez, Motorola etc. hire physicists for research programmes

i'm a bsc hons physics 2nd year student and have very deep interest in astrophysics but i don't have very good financial conditions from my family and i'm gonna sit for iit jam this year and i don't wanna be an teacher so what are the career options in govt sector after msc from any good iit

M.Sc Physics graduates can find a lot of career opportunities in teaching and research field. NET qualified candidates can work in the role of professor and can earn salary up to Rs. 40, 000/- per month. They can apply for the profile of Junior Research Fellow and can have stipend between Rs. 12,000/- and Rs. 16,000/- at entry level itself. GATE qualified ones can try for a job on BHEL, BEL, GAIL and so on. M.Sc Physics graduates can join ISRO as Scientific Officer with a pay scale of Rs. 28,500/- per month. L&T Infotech, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, etc are some of the private sector organizations providing career opportunities.

I am in my final sem of bsc (physics) what after this? If i pursue msc in physics wat are the job opportunities i will get ? Please help me with this.....
