Once you are done with your Class XII Commerce steam examinations, one needs to appear for CPT exam (Common Proficiency Test) & on clearing that you are then supposed to clear IPCC exam & lastly the Finals. One must also take up Articleship compulsorily.

Hello,

It is a professional course in the field of Accounting.first you have to enroll in ICAI ..

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is the sole authority who offers the course and conducts exams.

CA course deals with the study of financial management, taxation and accounting.

To join CA you must pass +2 in any stream.

There are three exams which you have to pass to get the certification of CA. There are lots of opportunities associated to the course.

CA course can help one to start CA firm or join a financial accounting department or serve in taxation departments and so on.

The first step of the course is Common Proficiency Test (CPT). This exam has to be cleared to take admission for the second stage. Anyone who has completed 10th can register for the Common Proficiency Test.

However he can only appear for the test once he has completed 12th standard. The graduates are given exemption from appearing if they meet the certain criteria.

The commerce graduates should have 55 percent marks in the course.

Non commerce graduates should have 60 percent marks.

Otherwise it is important to appear for the Common Proficiency Test. There are two sections in the exam.

1. Fundamentals of Accounting and Mercantile Laws.

2. Economics and Quantitative Aptitude.

You will have to score 30 percent in both the sections to clear this entrance exam. After which you can apply for the IPCC.

Integrated Professional Competancy Course (IPCC)

The Integrated Professional Competancy Course is the second stage of the Chartered Accountancy course. There are total of 7 subjects in it that are divided into 2 groups.

The examination can only be taken once you have complete Common Proficiency Test and 9 months of IPCC study.

The Chartered Accountancy course comprise of the following stages:
  • Common Proficiency Test
  • Integrated Professional Competence Course
  • Computer Training
  • Articled Training
  • Final Exam
  • General Management & Communication Skill Course

Since the first stage of the Chartered Accountancy course is Common Proficiency Test, you will have to, first of all, enroll for the same and to be eligible, you must have passed secondary level of examination (matriculation). However, to take the test, qualifying 10+2 level of examination is mandatory.

The Common Proficiency Test is not mandatory to the following category of candidates:
  • Commerce graduates who have qualified bachelors degree examination with a minimum of 55% marks.
  • Non-Commerce graduates who have qualified bachelors degree examination with a minimum of 60% marks.
Candidates exempted from the Common Proficiency Test may register directly for the Integrated Professional Competence Course.

In order to become an associate member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and practice the profession, you will have to qualify all the aforementioned stages which includes Artcilceship Training of 3 years 6 months which one could undergo after completion of Integrated Professional Competence Course. The final examination can be written after completion of a minimum of three years of Articleship Training.
